Where we work....

Christmas Update (December 2000):

Merry Christmas...

Well, as you can see we have FINALLY managed to update this web page - its only been 5 months!!! Congratulations to Erica's friend Neil, who being very deceptive, pointed out that Erica probably doesn't know how to program HTML!!! Well, Neil, you'd be right!

So another year is almost over, and looking back, we can say we've enjoyed ourselves. We have managed to get our fair share of holidays, and more than our fair share of work, and best of all that Great British Summer! Yep, that's No. 3 for me!! Yes, its quite frightening to think that I have been in the UK for almost 3 years.

We are going to Erica's Aunts for Christmas, which will be great, as her Mother, Grandma and Brother will all be there. Poor Chris, another Miles's Christmas!!! As for New Years, there are not too many plans, central London is hard work at New Years, and as such we are going to a friends house for a party and a half! No millenium crush underneath Big Ben, like we had last year.

Photos of our last six months 'jolly's' are shown on the photos page. We have not had any major holidays, but have managed to have a few excellent long weekends. Most noteable was the rugby game between NZ and France in Paris. Paris is one cool city, and being over-run with kiwis was quite a sight! Best of all we Won, which helps with the national pride.

Chris turned 30 (yes, 30!) in October, and to celebrate (comisserate in his case), we went to London's coolest jazz club, and danced the night away. Although many of our friends can't recall exactly how or when they got home, all said they had a great night!

After Christmas the real excitment begins! We are going exploring in Somerset for a few days, then in February, we're off to Egypt for a cruise down the Nile! We hardly touch the UK, and Chris is off skiiing in some luxury resort in Austria, ()!

Best of all we are off to Boston USA in March to see Chris's sister. On top of all this excitment, we have family visiting, friends arriving, and a summer to look forward (oh, sorry, that would be on the one or two days in August!!).

As for wedding plans, we are still planning on April 2002. Although we've not actually done anything towards achieving this, goal at least we have a timeframe!

We are not doing Christmas Cards this year. Sadly, we are both far too busy, and before we knew what was going on, the posting deadline came and went. Instead, we've updated the web page!

A very merry Christmas to everyone and a great New Year!

Chris and Erica

Not so new news....(July 2000)

Hi,

Oh the joys of summer!! We are officially half way through summer, and believe it or not, the temperature is generally less than 20 degrees, and last week I had to take my winter coat to work! Oh the joys of summer!! Now I mus't winge (but I am getting good at it!), at least we are enjoying long daylight hours, and lots of activity.

Anyway, so what have we been up to lately? Since our last update, we have spent a suberb, sunny, week in Spain. Ahh, we went with Exodus (check out their web site and look for a trip called 'a week in Andalucia'). Boy, what bliss. The days were spent sightseeing, walking amongst the olive groves, eating and drinking and just generally relaxing. For two of the days, the most stressful thing we did was walk to a neighbouring village for lunch!!! We both came back so relaxed, it took a whole week of work to wear off! I highly recommend getting away from the Costas, and experiencing the interior, which gives you true Spain, and all the benefits that brings.

Since then, well, we were thinking it would be nice to have summer in the UK, but that has proven a rather sad task!! However, we have made an effort and been to Bath (to see the roman baths), and spent last weekend on the Isle of Wight where we went to visit Phil. The Isle was a frightening insight into English beaches, but none the less fun (for the weekend), and well worth a visit. This weekend we went to the Imperial War Museum in London, which turned out to be really good, and five hours and sore feet later, we emerged!!

On the work front, Chris has four weeks left in Chester and so will have a busy time finishing off his project. Me, well I still spend every week going somewhere 'exciting'. Highlights to date include Scunthorpe, Cardiff, Wrexham, and best of all Partrdige Green, oh no, Darwen. Yes, my job certaininly takes me to all the 'must sees' of the UK!!

On the domestic front, we have completed our move, but our old landlord still has not returned our deposit (bond). So, out next UK experience will be learning the County Court system (like the small claims back home). At least the new place is a quite, larger and more enjoyable.

As for the future, travel plans are evolving, although I have a difficult job deciding where to go. There are so many great places, and only 20 days of annual leave a year. Whats a girl to do?? We will go to Dublin to see a friend in October, and also am hoping to get over to Paris to see NZ thrash (hopefully) France at rugby (I can't bear another repeat of last years world cup). Speaking of Rugby, the game between Aus and NZ on Sat'y was suburb!! Brilliant, Lomu is a star!!

Well, that's about all the main pieces of news. I hope this finds you well. We will try and update this monthly from now on, and so the next update will be in August (and after our next exciting trip has been planned)!

Erica and Chris

ps wedding plans evolving more slowly than travel plans!

Old news....(21/5/2000)

Well, Chris has finally let me loose with the web page!
So what have we been up to?.. well the first thing was moving house which has kept us fairly busy.... Yes the noisy DJ upstairs finally got to us, and so we decided to move. The actual move went OK, but we are still trying to get our bond back off the old landlord, a task which is proving a slow and painful one.

Anyway, onto more exciting things, we went to Prague for five days over Easter. Boy this place is great (have a look at a few of our photos..) , and I would rate it over many cities we have seen.

As for now, we are off to Spain soon, for a week of sun, rambling (walking for those who are not in the know with English terminology), and good food. Need I say more.

Old news....(14/4/2000)

Well hello to everybody, we are now back from our NZ trip and I think just about recovered from the overdose of sun! It was great to see friends and family again although a little bit of a shame we could not catch up with all our friends especially in Auckland where house stuff took most of our time - next time. We are back at the work slog, Erica is still travelling most weeks for a day or two to the hottest locations in the UK. I have been trying to find the 'perfect client', London based, close to home, great opportunity, after several near misses I have discovered the 'perfect client' just does not exist for me! Looks like my next engagement (AC speak for job) will be in Chester, if anybody knows where this is let me know - it might be near Manchester (great). Also looks like we may be moving flat due to circumstances outside our control! More on this later. That's all for now, check out the site again soon for:

New flat info and photos.
The Wedding (currently under construction) crammed with lots of useful wedding info.
Latest news of our travels to Prague and Spain.
