Flying At Fifty

Do you realize the Class of '69 is on the leading edge of a generation of baby boomers, having just turned or about to reach the age of 50? New issues are defining our lives. We are "exceeding all expectations".

Kristi Anderson and Judie Feins, Program Chairs, are pulling together a Saturday afternoon program in Alumnae House which will include panel discussion and breakout groups. This open and supportive forum will provide the opportunity to share ideas concerning key life issues.

A discussion of all the parts of our lives with a particular focus on change. We'll review some of the responses from our survey of 5 years ago, glean a few observations from a similar survey of Wellesley class of '98 done for their 30th last year, and facilitate what we hope will be a lively and supportive discussion. Some of the themes our classmates have suggested to us (and sent us wonderful emails about) include:

Coping with death and other loss.
The challenges of caring for elderly parents.
Anticipating the end of our work life - what will retirement be like?
Living single - still, again.
Taking risks, following dreams, adventuring.
The "empty nest" and changes in relationships with husband and children.
Been working at this job a long time - I feel so "stuck" !
Our aging bodies - illness, health and wellness.
Career changes
"Tradeoffs" - the idea that there rae expansions in some areas, losses or disappointments in others.

If you are interested in participating or supporting this program in any way, please contact Kristi Anderson or Judie Feins.
