Welcome to the website of the DC Capital Area Motorhead Society The Capital Area Motorhead Society is a casual and friendly motorocycle
"non-club"based in the Virginia / Maryland / Washington D.C. The CAMS started in
early 1995 as a bunch of guys on the Internet who wanted to get together for safe and fun
weekend rides. Everyone is welcomed to join us although we can't always gaurentee that the
rides (informally called "Eat N' Rides") are close to where you live. The group
has attracted quite a collection of bikes ranging from cruisers to standards to
sportbikes. One CAMS has even shown up with a Moto Guzzi and sidecar hack and another in a
custom 3 wheeler. "Eat To Ride, Ride To Eat" The main CAMS event is the "Eat N' Ride" which traditionally starts at the Silver Diner in Fairfax VA. By some odd coincidence this diner happens to situated about 100 yards from where the group's founder lives. To be a CAMS is to ride and to ride is to eat, thus our motto. Besides our weekend Eat N' Rides, we frequently get together on Fridays for lunch at greasy spoons in the area. The greasy spoon for each of these "Trough Rides" floats around... that is to say, our selection of a fine Washington DC area eating establishment varies. There are three criteria which qualify a resteraunt for CAMS patronage:
Requirements For Membership In CAMSAfter responding to several cams and camettes, who asked if they were members of this group, I feel compelled to review what it takes to be associated with this august group. the answer, in short, is nothing. We have no standards (er...requirements) for membership and no dues. Once you ride with us, this will become readily apparent. Even if you ride an old beater, have a pink harley, can read a map (we don't have any of those), like to keep to an announced ride schedule (ditto), store others' junk bikes in ur garage with an unfinished morgan, or would rather be with a new girl(boy)friend, ur still in. Furthermore, there are no provisions on getting out. We do, however, have one club rule... "No drinking or drugs during the rides." -- John Weinstein This page was last updated on 08/14/99. |
