Hunter: A Golden Retriever mix from the USA. Before being chosen by the master (AKA Prof. Shepard) Hunter was a stray about to be put to sleep by the Los Angeles Animal Control. He mannaged to escape and make his way to Road Rover Mission Control where he underwent his first transformation. Hunter is now the leader of the Road Rover team. He is courageous, friendly, loyal, playful, possessing all the traits we've come to love about man's best friend. Overall he is a good leader, but tends to be a little on the naive side, accepting insults as if they'd been complements. He also tends to be rather rough on vehicles and equipment. Each Road Rover has been endowed with a super power, Hunter's being super speed. When he runs he is seen as a blur, leaving a trail of fire in his wake. In addition to this he claims himself to be "Super friendly, super trusting, super loyal, super playful, and super super lucky." Dispite his status as leader he never lets it go to his head and treats all the other Rovers as equals. Many times he's put himself in harm's way to defend his team mates. Hunter is tolorent, respectful, and very forgiving. Case in point: In the episode "The dog that knew too much" a dog named Sport betrays the Road Rovers to General Parvo. When Parvo double crosses Sport, Hunter insists they rescue him, dispite protests from Blitz. When off duty Hunter lives at the White House as the pet of the President of the United States.

Colleen: A Collie from England. She's a good lookin' gal, but don't get her mad at you. She's a martail arts master, if there is anything higher than a black belt you can bet she's it. Colleen is cool and witty, tends to be sarcastic, and seems to have eyes for Hunter. She's always calling him by some cute nick name (Hunty or Hunty-Wunty, the latter he finds rather annoying) The relationship is a little one-sided however, Hunter rarely responds to her casual advances toward him. Though he definately likes her as a friend his feelings don't seem to go any deeper. Colleen may not get the attention she wants from Hunter, but she gets more than she can handle from Blitz. She usually counters his unwanted advances by "forgetting" his name, giving him a rediculous nick name, or simply throwing him across the room. Between Colleen's English accent and her habit of making a snappy remark for every situation she could be a female James Bond. It wouldn't seem at all strange if she was to step up to a bar and order a "martini, shaken, not stirred." Colleen's superpower is not clear. She is extremely quick and agile, as well as being an expert in hand to hand combat. These things are more like skills though, they can be learned and honed over time. I personally belive she's got extraordenary strength. There is an episode in which a gaint inscect tried to squash Colleen by dropping a piece of concrete K-rail on her. She shattered it with her fist before it hit the ground. Now a blackbelt breaking a cinderblock in half with his/her hand is impressive, but shattering a 2,000 pound chunk of cement as it falls from 30 feet in the air is incredible. Colleen was something of a karate kid even before she became a Road Rover. Just before being summoned by the Master she was seen as a stray, scrounging for food in a dark London alley way. She was jumped by two other dogs who she fought off by kicking them with her hind legs. In addition to her fighting skills, Colleen is also the doctor of the group. This was never officialy designated as one of Colleen's roles, but became apperant when she surgically treated a gunshot wound to a wolf's leg while the others stood by and tried not to be sick. Though at times she may seem brash and cocky, she has a good heart and like Hunter, is compassionate and forgiving to all (with the possible exception of Blitz) Colleen now resides with the Brittish Prime Minister.

Colleen

Exile: A Siberian Husky from Russia. No matter how hard you try, you'll be hard pressed to think of anything bad about Exile. He speaks with a thick Russian accent and has botched about every common American saying, but he tries hard to improve his linguistic skills by reading basic children's books. Exile's an emmotional guy and not afraid to show it. The ending of the kid's book "Go Dog Go" litterally moved him to tears. He also likes to demonstrate his affection towards his fellow Road Rovers by embracing them in bear hugs. This often results in extreme discomfrot for the individual being hugged as Exile is quite muscular and doesn't know his own strength. He is a very handy Rover to have around. He's a technical whiz, the team's "mechanic" if you will. His super powers include heat and freeze vision. With a simple look he can either roast or deep freeze things at will. He claims he contracted his freeze vision during the cold war (verry funny) and that his heat vision comes in handy on cold Siberian nights. Exile is loyal and steadfastly dedicated to the Road Rovers and their cause. He has close bonds with all his Rover comrades, even Blitz (though you'll never see him admit it.) Exile is now the Russian President's pet.

Exile

Blitz: A Doberman from Germany. Blitz thinks of himself as God's gift to dog kind. When he's not grooming himself or admiring himself in a mirror he can probably be found hitting on Colleen. Colleen hits him back, literally. Blitz's attitude would be easier to live with if he would measure up to his claims of himself. He talks big and brave when there is no serious danger present, but when something big and ugly decides to attack, Blitz usualy reacts with a scream before turning tail and running. Despite his lack of courage Blitz is still a force to be reckoned with. He has razor sharp teeth and retractable Freddy Krueger style claws. Eager to impress Colleen, Blitz is often the first to rush into a situation. Unfortunately he rushes in half cocked and manages to get himself into trouble. He has more than once denied being a Road Rover and has come close to betraying the others to save his own skin. As Hunter put it in "Storm from the Pacific" Let's get him out of there before he sells out his mother. For some reason Blitz greatly enjoys biting people on the posterior. This has earned him the un-affectionate designation of "wierd boy" from Exile. Perhaps Blitz's life prior to being a Road Rover helped shape his present, big talking self. He used to be a guard dog at a car lot, they get to do a whole lot more barking than actual mauling. Blitz now lives with the German President.

Blitz

Shag: The Swiss Sheepdog. This guy is HUGE. For reasons unknown he has never been able to fully transdogmafy. He gained the ability to stand on two legs, but does not wear a uniform or talk in human terms. He communicates with the other Rovers in a language of dog noises (which they understand perfectly) Shag is stronger than Blitz and Exile put together, don't get in his way. He has the ability to hide just about anything in his long white fur, from chairs and card tables to Colleen (See episode "Hunter's heros") He's like a living, breathing utility truck. If he doesn't have it on him somewhere the Road Rovers probably don't need it. Shag's only got a couple minor problems. He can never remember which way to point large weapons, he has many times aimed at something in front of him, and demolished something behind him. He is also a super coward. It doesn't take much to frighten Shag and if there is no close place to hide he'll literally jump into Hunter's arms. Hunter must be wearing a back brace under his uniform seeing as Shag's about three times his size. Chicken or not, Shagster (as he is called by the others) is a good guy and always helpful on Road Rover missions. Shag spends his free time hanging out with the Swiss President.

Shag

Muzzle: A Rottweiler, also from the USA. He's not officialy a Road Rover and has never been transdogmafied. He started out as Scout, Professor Shepard's dog. He was dognapped by Parvo and used in an early cano-mutator experiment. The experiment failed and instead of being transformed he was rendered insane.(these events took place prior to Professor Shepard creating the Road Rovers) He now has to be restrained and strapped to a handcart wearing a straight jacket and a muzzle (hence his name) After the botched experiment he escaped from Parvo and stowed away on a west bound freight train which landed him in California. It was there where he was picked up by Los Angeles Animal Control. He met and became friends with Hunter while in the pound. The two dogs were to be put down on the same day and when the Master summoned Hunter (both were on their way to the death chamber when he did.) Hunter broke free and helped Muzzle escape as well. Despite his condition Muzzle is friendly and loyal towards the Rovers and often accompanies them on missions. If the situation reaches a point where the Rovers can not handle it alone they release Muzzle from his restraints and he proceeds to.... make a heck of a mess, enough said. Muzzle now lives full time at Road Rover Mission Control with the Master.

Muzzle

The Master: Once known as Professor William Shepard. He was a geneticist working on the creation of a machine to give human traits to dogs. Unfortunately Murphey's law caught up with him. (actually it didn't catch up with him, it hit him like a truck) His money hungry assistant Jeffery Otitus made a deal behind the Professor's back to sell the technology. When his perspective buyer demanded a demonstration Otitus botched the transformation of a cat. This led to the birth of General Parvo. Parvo in turn attempted the experiment on Shepard's dog which is how Muzzle came to be. Not to be beathen that easily Parvo blackmailed the Professor for the plans to build a functional transdogmafier. Being the nasty bad guy that he is, Parvo slipped Shepard a bomb which nearly blew up in his face and completely leveled his lab. Shepard survived the bombing and continued on to perfect the transdogmafier. He created the Road Rovers who now know him as the Master. The Master still appears as a normal, middle aged human male, but his hair is now bleached white and his eyes glow, perhaps an after effect of the bombing or maybe an experiment he tried on himself, one can only conjecture. Don't be fooled, the Master is no mad scientist. He is very mentaly stable and kind hearted. Now his only mission in life is to protect the innocent from the likes of General Parvo.

Who's this Parvo guy?
Long, complicated story here. General Parvo is the arch enemy of the Road Rovers. Strangely enough he started out as Professor Shepard's cat, Boots. (That poor guy hasn't had good luck with pets has he?) Shepard's corrupt assistant used Boots in an unauthorized demonstrated of the transdogmafier. Something went horribly wrong, Boots was transformed alright, but he went far past a feline verson of a cano-sapien. He became almost completely human, no tail, no claws, and no fur except for a small patch on the top of his head. He also has cat ears up there but keeps them and the patch of fur hidden under a metal helmet. Nobody knows what his problem is, but for some reason Parvo (he hated the name Boots) is bent on world conquest. Maybe the experimental transdogmafier affected his mind similarly to the way it affected Muzzle's. Unlike Muzzle though, Parvo is mentaly compatant and is very cold and calculating in all that he does. He is assisted by the Groomer, a thin, dark haired, fair skinned woman with a Scottish accent. No Idea where she came from but she's here and she's a trouble maker at that. She's been with Parvo almost from the get-go and seems to have eyes for him the same way that Colleen does Hunter. Like Hunter, Parvo hasn't picked up on it. General Parvo was the first transdogmafier mistake and it was he that dognapped Scout and used him in the experiment that wound up creating Muzzle. Professor Shepard's assistant Jeffery Otitus attempted to build a transdogmafier from memory and failed miserably. Parvo held Scout-Muzzle (whatever you want to call him at this point) for ransome, and told Shepard he'd trade him for the transdogmafier plans. Unbeknownst to Shepard, the dog had escaped. The professor agreed and turned the plans over to Parvo, but instead of getting his beloved dog back, Parvo gave him a bomb which completely destroyed his laboritory. By some miracle he survived the explosion and went under ground where he perfected the transdogmafier and created the Road Rovers. General Parvo had been given plans for a transdogmafier which still had some bugs in it, and it would not create cano-sapiens. It did however create cano-mutants, huge canine monsters. This suited Parvo just fine and he proceeded to create an army of cano-mutants to aid him in his quest for world domination. Fortunately the Road Rovers have been able to out fox him at every turn and prevented him from achieving his evil ambitions.
