The Electrical System
First thing I had to fix was the headlight switch, the stock switch had worn out and a previous owner had wired in a toggle switch, but he had done a horrible job at it, so I had to go back through it and fix up the mistakes.
The fuel gauge didn't work properly until I pulled the sender unit out of the tank to have the tank patched, it works great now.
The new engine came with electronic ignition, so I've got Electronic ignition now, works like a champ, no more points for me!
The ground wasn't hooked up for the rear tail lights when I got the car, so they were very dim and the blinkers would stop flashing when I stepped on the brakes. Hooked that up and it worked wonders. Also had to fix the license plate lights, which had been replaced with some addon nasty things. Fixed the dome light, which was suffering from rust.
I'd like to put on the 1980 Datsun 210 alternator, as it's internally regulated, and it puts out 40 amps at 2500 rpm.. The stock alternator only puts out 28 amps at 5000.
