The Interior

The domelight was horrendously rusted out, so I ran wires around the rust and got it to start working again, gunna have to stop by the junk yard to get a rust free dome light assembly. At the moment, it ONLY lights when you open the door, and it won't shut off unless you close the door (which is more than it used to do).

New quarter panels.. The interior quarter panels (behind the front doors, next to the back seat) were totally snapped, the wood was broken in 3 or 4 different places, and it was hanging down, so I went down to the hardware store and picked up some new 1/4" hardboard (thicker than the original hardboard). I took the one semi-good quarter panel and used it as a template to trace a line on the hardboard to cut the new panels. Then I grabbed the saw and cut it up. I also had a nice 8" subwoofer I needed a home for, and noticed that there was plenty of room for that speaker in that body panel, so I cut a whole for that in one of the quarter panels and screwed that in. I used a small drill to drill pilot holes and then put in some hex head screws to keep the panel tight on the wall (about 9 screws total). It looks pretty decent, will look better after I put some velour over them (along with the rest of the car).

The hardboard over my spare tire had gotten old and rotten, and was torn badly in a few places, so I pulled that out and used some of my left over hardboard to make a new one, I'm not done with this project, but it's looking great so far.

I also plan to replace the kickpanels up front, they're cracked from age and abuse, and I'd like to figure out something to go under the dash, I can tell that when it came from the factory, there was something down there, but it's not there anymore, so it'll be hard to know what it's supposed to look like.

I hope to find some new seats, the current front seats are nasty, they not only look bad, but when you lean back to hard the adjustable lean lets go and you fall into the back seat, it's not good. I'm hoping to get some nice seats from something like a Toyota Supra.. Maybe even power seats.

I'd like to get the electronic heater control from a 89 Toyota Supra. A friend of mine has one of those cars, and the heater control is about the right size to fit where the current heater controls are (with some minor cutting and adapting). I'd also have to figure out how to tie it in with the rest of the system, but it'd be hella sweet, it's all digital, and can maintain the internal temp of the car at whatever you ask it to.
