Part 2: Zane

--Zoe suddenly felt a strong, jolting chill—like being thrown into an icy pond. Her twin brother’s face appeared in her mind. He was feeling the same thing. Running as fast as she could, she headed back to the house they were watching for their uncle over the summer. Zane was doubled over on the beach, shivering violently. It was 85 degrees.

--"Zane! What was that? It was like some…power thrust itself at me. I guess you got hit even harder."

--"Zane stood up, looking out across the water. He suddenly spasmed as something shocked him. Zoe winced in pain. "Something powerful just exploded across my skin. It’s still there, only it’s settled down now. Do you feel that, Zoe?"

--"You know I do."

--Zoe and Zane had a bond no one had ever been able to explain. They could always feel each other’s emotions, always communicate without words. They’d endured a lot of teasing and cruelty from other children in their school years for their strangeness. Their physical appearance didn’t help them fit in, either. They were both albinos—pale skin, white hair, ice-blue eyes. But their ostracism had only made them rely on each other, strengthening their bond.

He walked away from her in a daze. Words were forming in his head, but he wasn’t sure what they meant. Zane only knew he had to say them. "ARMOR OF TUNDRA!" A white armor formed around him, trimmed in blue. Zoe could feel the power flow through her as well, like a current between them. Zane opened his clenched fists and spears of ice appeared. He threw them out into the water, but an endless supply kept appearing out of nowhere. "ARCTIC BLAST!" A maelstrom of deadly snow and ice shards trailed the spears he now threw. His muscles ached as he let loose spear after spear. Exhausted, he dropped to the sand. His armor disappeared as Zoe ran to his side. She looked up to see that the water all down the beach was completely frozen.
