I've always considered these my best years. I loved working with the children at Casa Nuestra and feeling like my life made a real daily difference in the lives of others.

Eventually Casa Nuestra burned down in a tragic fire. I moved on to other social service work at Sojourn Shelter for Battered Women, Stepping Stone Shelter for Teenagers, Turning Point Shelter for Homeless Adults, Daybreak Center for Homeless Women, and eventually Step Up for Mentally Ill Adults.
