RES OFFICE UPDATES

(updated 23March 2000)

In The Famous Words of Ricky Ricardo.....

"I GUESS I HAVE SOME 'SPLAININ TO DO !!"

(For those of you who don't know who Ricky Ricardo is...May I suggest watching the next I LOVE LUCY Marathon on NICK-AT-NITE)

A petition was sent to Mr. Robert Milton from The Res Office advising him that The Company was not honoring the "AGREED TO" Staff Level of 209 F.T. Agents and 8 P.T. Agents in The Res Office.

After the petition was received..

I was asked to go to Montreal, along with I.B.T. Business Agent Steve Greenwell to meet with Gordon Young.

The only thing accomplished at this meeting was....

Gordon Young left the meeting knowing that we were going to hold The Company to the agreed to Staff Level (209 F.T. 8 P.T.).

After returning from Montreal, I was advised that Gordon Young and The Company would honor The Agreed To Staff Levels in The Res. Office

BUT.....

1) The Staff Level in Tampa Res. would not be increased beyond
209 F.T. 8 P.T.

2) All work The Company had planned to send our way,

(With the recent purchase of Canadian Airlines)

Would now be sent to Canada.

3) The class of "NEW HIRES" that was to start after the "CURRENT CLASS OF NEW HIRES" was cancelled!.

(Can You Say .... VINDICTIVE??)

BOTTOM LINE ....... (In My Opinon)

GORDON YOUNG was ready to let his PERSONAL FEELINGS towards "US" get in the way of making RATIONAL DECISIONS.

On 29 February 2000, I was asked to meet with Air Canada Labour Relations in Clearwater, Fla.

At this meeting I, along with I.B.T. Business Agent, Steve Greenwell signed the "INFAMOUS"
Agreement with The Company.

After much discussion between Air Canada, Labour Relations and Steve Greenwell and myself,

It was agreed to "LOWER" the minimum number of Full-Time Positions to 204 (GUARANTEED).

The reason this was agreed to, was to address The Companys concern of the

"NEED FOR FLEXIBILITY IN ORDER TO FACILITATE FUTURE GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES" (In Tampa Res.) "DURING THE RESTRUCTURING PERIOD".

If "OUR OFFICE" has not grown by September 2001 .....

The I.B.T. may cancel this understanding and revert back to our "ORIGINAL" Agreement of.....

209 FULL-TIME....8 PART-TIME AGENTS

.....IN A NUTSHELL.....

We have agreed to "GIVE" The Company 1 1/2 Years to make OUR OFFICE "GROW"!!

I "DO NOT" feel that we have "CHANGED" our Contract.

I feel that we have taken off our blinders and have given an inch,to gain a yard.

I do not feel that we have "GIVEN IN" to The Company.

I feel that we have given The Company an opportunity to expand OUR OFFICE.

REMEMBER ......

"LIFE IS A NEGOTIATION, IT'S ALL GIVE AND TAKE".

I feel that it was worth "GIVING" a little bit to The Company at this time...

In order to "GAIN" ALOT in the future.

IN SOLIDARITY ALWAYS,

Rob

few Agents to explain
what happened with

in QUEUES.

The Union allowed the 4
affected Agents to exercise
their seniority rights,
and bid into an OPEN position
in a different Department.

ANOTHER COACH !! .....

AND

A NEW WAY TO "HOPEFULLY"
RESOLVE THE ONGOING
BATTLE WITH "THE LIST"....

.... FOR THE LATEST
ON THE "UN-NECESSARY
BATTLE BETWEEN US AND
THE COACHES

Management has advised me
that they want to do away
with the 250 Hour Rule as
it pertains to members
working in Specialist
Positions.

The 250 Hour Rule was
implemented for
VERY VALID reasons
on part of The Union
AND
The Company.

A meeting between The
Stewards, Steve Greenwell
and Local Management is
needed to discuss any
changes to the current
Specialist Rotation
Agreement.

I will try to set up
the meeting as soon as
possible to discuss this.
