It was a cold night, almost too cold for an evening on Tatooine.
Qui-San shifted nervously in her sleep. Something had happened. She
could sense it, a great disturbance in the Force, more then just a mere
ripple.
“Qui-Gon. . . ”
She sat up with a start, little beads of sweat running down her face
and splattering gently on her sheets. Slipping on a robe over her night
clothing, Qui-San rose and went to the window, staring out at the bright
moons. She didn’t know why she was reacting this way, she only knew it
was because of her brother. Something had happened to him. Was he... ?
No. She refused to even consider the thought. Qui-Gon couldn’t be dead.
Brushing her long, dust brown hair back behind her ears, she went to sit
down before her mirror. She glanced into it, the clear surface
refracting the moonlight, illuminating her refelection. Her deep blue
eyes filled with wisdom looked into the eyes of a person who was
worried. Extremely worried that something had happened to her only
Brother, Qui-Gon Jinn.
Her bangs fell loose, covering her eyes. She brushed them back, and let
a few strands fall, which framed her thin face. Sighing deeply, she went
to the door of her room, and opened it.
She walked into the kitchen, and turned on the light. Rummaging through
the food storage, she found a suitable snack and sat down to munch on
it. After sitting for a few moments, she placed her food on a nearby
table and closed her eyes, beginning a Jedi Breathing exersize. Perhaps
through the will of the Force, someone was trying to tell her something.
She needed to concentrate, to pick up on the message.
Visions flashed through her head. Qui-Gon...battling some kind of
Strange species...with a horned head and bloodshot yellow eyes, a
tatooed red and black face...and a double bladed red light saber. The
person, or, thing, was emitting powerful waves of energy...dark energy.
Qui-San flinced at the immense waves of the Dark side, but remained
focused. Then, another lightsaber came into veiw, a blue one. Qui-Gon’s
padawan, Qui-San’s old friend Obi-Wan flew into the battle, covering
Qui-Gon’s back. The man of the Dark Side had to be a sith Lord. Qui-San
knew it. He fought well, extremely well.
The battle raged on for several more minutes, and Soon it was only
Qui-Gon and the Sith. Obi-Wan had been blocked by an energy feild of
sorts. There was an extreme ripple for a moment in the Force, and The
Sith, using the middle of his light saber hit Qui-Gon square in between
the eyes, stunning the Jedi momentarily. For that brief second, Qui-Gon
had left an opening. And it only took one second, for the Sith to
strike.
Qui-San heard the pained scream of Obi-Wan, and the grunt of her
brother as he fell to the floor, after receiving a blow through the
stomach. Qui-San fought hard against her emotions, fighting to get one
last peice of information- The sith’s name.
It came to her, so quickly she almost missed it.
Darth Maul.
She lost the vision, and opened her eyes, tears streaming down them
unchecked.
“No....” She choaked..... “NO!!!!”
* * *
The heat. Flames. Fire, burning brightly, kindled by one thing: Her
Brother’s body.
Trying to hold back her tears, Qui-San was attending the Funeral of her
Only brother, The Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. She stood near Obi-Wan, who
had a comforting arm around her, and a young boy, Anakin Skywalker. His
Metochlorian count was high....off the chart, and he was to become
Obi-Wan’s Padawan, on the request of Qui-Gon. If Yoda fianlly aproved
that is.
By the end of the funeral, Qui-San had calmed down somewhat, and was
exiting to her room when she was stopped by Senator Palpatine.
“Senator,” She said politely, bowing her head.
“Jedi,” He replied smoothly, returning the bow. He spoke so quietly
that Qui-San did not detect the sneer in his voice. He shifted for a
moment, then went on.
“Since the Death of your brother...Qui-Gon....I have noticed you have
built up...hatred.” He said, his green eyes staring into hers.
“Hatred, sir? Against Whom?”
“The Sith, for killing him,” Palpatine replied slyly. Qui-San stared
him in the face, her blue eyes emotionless.
“I feel no hate.”
“But they killed him.”
“My Brother is not dead.”
“You’re living in a fantasy! He is dead, we just saw his body burned!”
Palpatine snapped.
“Sir, you are not one to tell me that I am full of hatered.” Palpatine
glared at her.
“I don’t have to be a Jedi to tell when someone is angry,” he growled.
“He lives. In the Force, in me. He flows around us, he binds me to the
force. Through him, I have become more in tune with the Force, more at
peace with it.” With that, she turned her back and opened the door to
her quarters.
“If you’ll excuse me, Senator.” Closing the door behind her, Qui-San
entered her room and lay on the bed. Then, she shuddered. There was
something about him....something she couldn’t quite grasp....
Dwelling on those thoughts, Qui-San drifted off into slumber. The last
image she saw was the smiling eyes of her brother, who was forever one
with the Force.
