Golf - Magnetic Island Country Club, Picnic Bay.   The unique 9 hole golf course where Greg Norman first played golf. Visitors always welcome. 18 holes $16, 9 holes $11. Telephone: 1800 678 478.      Island Walks,  With some 22km of walking tracks and many hilltop lookouts there are excellent opportunities to explore and discover the eucalyptus forest, rainforest gullies, mangroves, rugged hills and shorelines of Magnetic Island . All distances and and approximate times are one way.  Nelly Bay to Arcadia 6km, 2hours.  Arcadia to Horseshoe Bay  3km, 1hour.  Picnic Bay to West Point 8km, 2.5hrs.   Horseshoe Bay Road to Arthur Bay  2km,  30m.   Horseshoe Bay Road to The Forts  2km, 1 1/2 hours return.  Horseshoe Bay Lagoon  730m.   Horseshoe Bay to Balding Bay 3km, 45min. and Radical Bay 3km, 45min.  It is a good idea to take drinking water with you on the longer walks and to the uninhabited Bays. Camping is not permitted in the National Park.

Koala Spotting Best time to spot them is in the late afternoon when they begin to stir. One of the best places to find them is on the track up to the "forts". There are about 250 koalas on Magnetic Island.  If you don't manage to see one in the wild then go to the Koala Park Oasis and Sanctuary in Horseshoe Bay. There you will be able to see, take photographs and maybe even " cuddle" one of the koalas.

Museum of Tropical Queensland - 70 - 102 Flinders Street East, Townsville. ( Next to Reef HQ and IMAX Dome Theatre. You will see historical treasures from the "Pandora" - the ship that chased the "Bounty" mutineers - as well as other riches of North Queensland. HMS "Pandora" struck the Great Barrier Reef on August 28, 1791. There were 14 prisoner on board, crew of the Bounty, captured in Tahiti.
