F-body Dual Exaust
| Super GRK_Taz World |
This is always such an issue I decided to
put all the info I could find on one page. Props to Unstable Bob ----->
for getting me most of the links.
Here's a chart of all with all the links. Have any more links? Let me know
Site |
Mirror | Rating of System | "True" Duals | Worth It? | Comments |
| Site Number 1 | Mirror 1 | **** | Yes | Yes | Wow! |
| "copyrighted" | *** | Yes | Yes | A for effort. Good idea for trimming the rear seat wells to fit better mufflers. | |
| Site Number 3 | Mirror 3 | ** | No | No | That's dual exaust not "true" dual exaust. |
| N/A yet | * | Yes | No | Glasspacks??!! That's a baaad monkey! | |
| Site Number 5 | N/A yet | * | No | No | Again, that's dual exaust not "true" dual exaust. |
| Site Number 6 | N/A yet | **** | Yes | Yes | Kick Ass! |
| Mirror 7 | *** | No | 50/50 | Ugly, but looks effective |
|
| Site Number 8 | N/A yet | **** | Yes | Yes | Looks like it hangs too low. |
| N/A yet | *** | No | Yes | Best clearance for dual 3" | |
| "copyrighted" | ***½ | Yes | No | $3000 for exaust?!! a Mufflex single 4" is almost 1/7 of that!! |
I will mirror all these site when I have time since webpages change or disappear occasionaly. If any are legally copyrighted (yea right) I won't put up a mirror until the orginal disappears.

Alternatives:
Do 3rd and 4thgens really need dual exaust when making big power? My answer is no. There are plenty of less expensive and just as efficient systems out there, some even more efficient than duals. Most enthusiasts agree that a single 3" system is good till 450hp. I've heard that going bigger than 3" might gain you as much as 20hp. Is it worth buying another system? If you're in that power range money shouldn't be an issue.

Set up Options:
You can see all the ways people did their systems. Here's my idea to fit duals under our cramped 3rd and 4th gens:

I scanned this from a mag that showed how to put Flowmaster dual exaust on a slammed first generation Camaro. They used shorty headers and a single rear transverse flowmaster next to the rear axle instead of dual mufflers underneath.
Some techniques like the shorty headers and the transverse muffler could be applied to the 3rd an 4th generation f-body too.
