This dance can be danced to any piece of music.  Nonesuch is used quite often, but it is used several other places during a Faire day, so any other dance tune with a 4/4 or 6/8 beat can be used, like Mairi's Wedding (playing)

The weave is a simple maypole dance for at least two couples, although more creates a better effect.  The dance starts with couples facing each other.  The dance begins with partners passing by the right shoulders.  The next person is passed by left shoulders.  The alternating continues right and left until the dancers are sick of it.  Then everyone has to turn around.  This is the "unwind" portion of the dance.  Each person passes the person they are facing in a way that will uncross the ribbons.  This continues until all the ribbons are untangled.  Easy, huh?

A sound file of the music we use at the Faire.

Actually, any song can be used.  All it needs is to have a 4/4 beat, or a 6/8 beat of an Irish jig would work fine.
