From the beginning, ShapeRite dedicated itself to building a business that would provide millions of people with superior health- and beauty-enhancing products, while offering its Distributors the opportunity for expanding wealth. The Company, founded in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1989, started with only a handful of nutritional products, based on the science of standardized herbs and guaranteed potency. From there it developed unique formulas that targeted specific body systems. The founders recognized the potential of these formulas, or products, to enhance nutritional supplements. ShapeRite decided to sell these dynamic products through network marketing - a distribution method that moves products to consumers through an extensive network of independent business owners. The personal contact in network marketing provides the perfect vehicle for explaining the products' benefits to consumers. The pay structure gives Distributors the opportunity to earn not only from their own marketing efforts, but also from the efforts of other Distributors. Through network marketing, the popularity of these products rapidly grew. ShapeRite expanded from $1 million in revenue and five employees in 1991 to approximately $50 million and 80 employees in 1995. Having reached its $50 million mark in annual revenues, ShapeRite was ready to move to its next level of growth. Anticipating future growth in 1997, it purchased an 80,000 square-foot facility, comprised of approximately 20,000 square feet of office space and 60,000 square feet of warehouse and manufacturing space. This modern building provides for future growth for years to come. By fostering a fiscally conservative culture, ShapeRite continues to develop an outstanding on-time payment history, high credit ratings, and strong banking relationships. Management conserves its solid capital base by only incurring debt for the procurement of long-term capital assets-not operating needs. The majority of its profits are reinvested back into the Company in order to build the business. This means lower risk and higher profitability for everyone.
