The following is an excerpt from “The Herbal Formula Guide” by William E. Frazier, M.H.P., N.C. It is not our intent to diagnose or prescribe. It is not our purpose to replace the services of your physician, only to offer educational information on the ingredients in the products we represent.

Almost everyone past the age of 40 can testify to aches and pains in the muscles and joints. It keeps us up at night, makes us grouchy, distracts us from our daily work schedule and slowly takes its toll mentally and physically. A good topical analgesic cream that can address this problem very effectively should contain the following ingredients.

Histamine Dihydrochloride A very powerful vasodilator. Increases blood flow to partially immobilized joints; helps bring nutrients needed for healing.

Vitamin E  is an antioxidant. Recent research indicates that Vitamin E can prolong life by protecting us from the ravages of free radicals. Vitamin E also appears to have an "oxygen sparing" effect; meaning it helps organisms get by with less oxygen than is normally required. Vitamin E has also been shown to be an effective vasodilator.

Birch Oil  Decreases inflammation in tissues. Provides counter-irritation when applied to skin overlying an inflamed or irritated joint.

Rosemary  Increases blood supply to skin. Acts as an astringent. Used to treat migraine headaches.

Lavender  Used for nervous headaches and to help relax muscles and ease neuralgic and rheumatic pain.

Black Pepper  Used as a stimulant. Contributes to circulation.

Red Thyme  Used in herbal medicine to treat rheumatic pain. Antispasmodic to soothe muscle. Also used to treat shingles.

Chamomile  Used to calm nerves. Has cortisone effect when used in creams. Also used to treat psoriasis.

Geranium  An astringent, used in a cream to relieve pain and reduce congestion and inflammation.

Sandalwood  Used to treat tension and anxiety. Has reputation as a sexual stimulant.
