Introspection On A Summer Day

Escape from self imposed cell to live a summer’s day
Entire sky, powder blue, fluffy white, flower scented
Leaves rustle, turn upon themselves in the wind
Mind roams actively in clear bright light
Yearnings, yens, yes’s and no’s, filtered and refined

Settled in lush grass, more delicious than heaven’s clouds
Every sense attuned, calm embrace, soft heart
Long introspective looks into past memories
Fights, frustrations, paths chosen, and not
Delusion of the self a true crime of one’s life

Impossible turns possible, unthinkable becomes thinkable
Clear recognition, wry ironic smile forms with beliefs onset
Altered reality, companion of a sardonic chuckle
Nuances of a fresh consciousness rest the burden
Fractured facets align, coalesce, bring peaceful waves

Intrusive disturbances examined, accepted with a shrug
Elusive needs follow the passing of a promise
Inroads were made, direction of soul still unresolved
Nearing the end of this afternoon’s flight of truth
God, I’ve seen enough, given enough, give me peace
