Two Gifts

Packages, whether tied with satin ribbon or butchers twine
Each different and yet the same, a gift
Received in the same manner, with wonder and smiles
Could what's in lace be as that in brown paper?
Each the same in size but so very different in weight

Plucking at the ribbons curls, pulling on the frayed twine
Tearing back the paper, loosening the lace
Inside each box a stone, lightning on lace, something yellow on brown
One stone diamond deluxe, solitary; One stone gold, rough, with a note
“Next time I travel this path, I share it with you”
