Dufus and Shirt...

NOW!

Dufus

Bonnie

Shirt

Chalky had deserted our friends with a flimsy excuse of having to supervise a large group of nine-ten year olds on a trip to Devon. Enigma having broken her mysterious silence, had also expressed an unwillingness to meet the lovely Ms. Bonnie Langford. Therefore, it was Dufus and Shirt that wound their merry way to 7th Galaxy to buy the snappily entitled CD "Bonnie Langford - NOW".

The journey was surprisingly uneventful, and on arrival Shirt was surprised to see that a queue had already formed, an hour before the signing was due to commence. For once, when passers-by asked who was signing, they actually recognised the name, even if it did provoke giggles or hollow laughter in most cases.

The signing began around 15 minutes late, and the queue proved to be slow-moving. On nearing the front of the queue, the cause was clear. Against all preconceived stereotypes of Ms. Langford, she was in bubbly, chatty mood, talking nineteen to the dozen to any fan (sorry, enthusiast) who would listen to her. Just as our chums were nearly at the front, Ms. Langford chose to leave the table, and pose with the Dalek outside, noticing the queue seemingly for the first time.

"What a lot of people have turned up", the carrot-topped beauty of stage and screen exclaimed.

"Yes", murmured both Dufus and Shirt in unison under their breath, "So get back in there and keep signing !".

Ms. Langford obliged (ooh er, missus), and a few minutes later Shirt found himself face-to-face with the woman who he blames for the regeneration of his favourite Doctor. ("Carrot juice ?! Carrot juice ?!" - No wonder he couldn't survive banging his head on the console). In a display of altruism (or miserliness, as he didn't want to buy the CD himself), Shirt proffered forward the CD cover to be signed to "Chalky". Next up was the black-and-white photo, which came free with the CD, which was inscribed "To Enigma". Next up was one of Chalky's video-covers, which again his kind friend got Bonnie to sign for him (taking up part of his autograph allowance). To Dufus' disgust, Shirt had bought a large poster advertising the CD, which he then got Ms. Langford to sign, whilst the free colour photo that came with it, again went to "Chalky".

Bonnie expressed her admiration for Shirt's kindness to his absent friend, and on learning that Chalky had e-mailed her website, asked "Chalky ? NorNorWest or Wright ?". Shirt's "Trial" boxset, "Paradise Towers" cover & "The Eighties" completed his allowance, but before leaving he asked for a photo. Stupidly, Shirt asked Dufus to do the honours, causing Dufus to drop all his stuff (as usual). With cheesy smiles, the snap was taken, and Shirt moved off. Dufus retrieved his stuff, and got Bonnie to sign them, even managing to get two more of Chalky's items signed as well, also gaining Bonnie's admiration. Bonnie then dropped a bombshell, by informing the two friends that a forthcoming convention to which our three friends were bound later in the year had been cancelled.

Shirt then attempted to take a photo of Bonnie and Dufus on his own camera, but could not make the shutter work. Silently cursing Dufus, assuming that he had broken it, he used Dufus' camera. However, Dufus was not concerned as it allowed him to be in close proximity with a woman, who wasn't his mother, for a longer amount of time. [On returning home, Shirt discovered that the cheapskates at Olympus had only included a 12 exposure-film with the camera, thereby clearing Dufus from any blame]. Shaking Ms. Langford's hand warmly, Dufus joined Shirt and the two of them left the shop, wending their merry way home.
