(A Double Drabble)

The arrival of a new DW hardback novel meant an inevitable associated signing at Naughty Asteroid. Having purchased the book online did not stop Shirt attending for a signing by J(enny) T. Colgan, renowned ‘chick-lit’ author. Making his way straight there from work, Shirt arrived at around 5.45pm for a 6pm start. Having wasted five minutes, he made his way to the usual signing area, indicated by a table straining with copies of Jenny’s DW tome “Dark Horizons”. However, there was no queue, only a couple of other fans circling the area with copies of the book in their hands.

This circling continued with no-one wishing to start the queue, seemingly concerned that they might be a queue of one, embarrassing Jenny. Eventually at 6.05pm, it occurred to them that unless they formed a queue, she would never emerge. Therefore, one of the others began a queue, swiftly followed by the other fan and Shirt. A number of other fans then appeared ‘from thin air’ joining on behind, causing a member of staff to go and bring Jenny to the signing table. The queue moved swiftly, and five minutes later, Shirt was exiting the store with his newly signed book.
