Shirt…

Dalekmania !!!

Seventh Galaxy had had to cancel a Dalek-themed convention due to a clash of dates, but they had managed to get all planned attendees to attend for a signing session at the Arc Theatre, alongside Lauren Wilson – Daughter of Mine in “Human Nature/The Family of Blood”.

Arriving at the venue just as the signing was beginning, Shirt paid for four autographs, also getting a free autograph and a signed photo of David Gooderson as Davros. Joining the short queue, the first guest was Ricky Newby, Dalek operator and monster actor. He was very pleased when Shirt gave him the “I Was A Doctor Who Monster” video cover, signing beside John Scott-Martin, before showing Shirt some of his photos from filming which he would be trying to sell after a slide-show later. Sixties-Doctor-Who-Fan who was in front of Shirt, was just telling the next guest, Phillip Anthony from “The Daleks Masterplan”, that he would be getting his autograph the next day at an “Avengers” convention. Shirt decided to use this excuse also, as he did not have anything for Phillip to sign.

Next up was Robert Aldous, who had appeared in “The Dalek Invasion of Earth”, and so signed the DVD cover. Shirt moved along to Phillip Bond, who appeared as Ganatus in “The Daleks”, getting him on the DVD sleeve, and the DVD sleeve of the 1968 Peter Cushing TV dramatisation of “The Hound of the Baskervilles”, in which Phillip plays the villain of the piece. Beside him was Jane How from “Planet of the Daleks”, but as Shirt had no items for her, he sidestepped her. Finally, was Lauren Wilson, who happily signed Shirt’s Series 3 poster, adding a drawing of her red balloon under her signature.

Shirt then proceeded to wait, and wait, for the panel to begin. Lauren, who admitted to being a fan of all eras of the programme, also took the opportunity of having her photo taken individually with all the other guests, as well as getting their autographs for her collection.

The panel then began, with Lauren speaking about the multitude of red balloons that she got through during filming, Phillip Bond speaking about his actress daughters including Samantha “Mrs Wormwood” Bond, whilst Philip Anthony revealed that his scene was recorded in isolation and so he had no contact with the regulars. Jane How dealt with the inevitable “Eastenders” questions with good grace.

Whilst they had been speaking, a lot of other people had arrived for autographs. Shirt therefore decided not to wait for Ricky’s slideshow, making his way home via Naughty Asteroid.
