The Raptors Are For Real
The Raptors Are For Real (August 8, 2001)

Sorry I've been away for so long, but times are tough. Let's make this quick and painless. The Raptors in one month have finally erased the memory of Isiah Thomas. GM Glen Grunwald signed Jerome Williams, Alvin Williams, Antonio Davis and Vince Carter to long term deal. He trades for Hakeem Olajuwon and signs him to a 3 year deal. The Raptors are set. They are two deep at every position. They finally can move AD to power forward, where he will dominate.

With the East as weak as it is, and without great centers too, Hakeem, Vince and co. are legitimate contenders for the Eastern crown. Think about it for a second. Milwaukee is the same team. Good, but no rebounders. The 76ers traded away their Tyronne Hill, but they will still be a good team. The Knicks are going down. The Magic get back Grant Hill, but Horace Grant and Patrick Ewing aren't the answer. Miami is losing players left and right. So who does that leave? How about a team that signed all their key players, are going to be together for 3-4 years, have legitimate players are every position and possibly the most exciting player in basketball. Kind of makes you think the Raptors are for real, doesn't it?
