Harvest

John 4:35
"Say not ye, there are four months and
then cometh harvest? Behold, I say
unto you, lift up your eyes, and look on
the fields, for they are white already
to harvest."
As we near the end of 'harvest' season, I
think of the words Jesus said to His disciples:
"The harvest truly is plenteous, but the
laborers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord
of the harvest, that He will send forth
laborers  into His harvest."
Matthew 9:37-38

We, as Christ's disciples, should be busy
"working in the fields."  We should be
faithfully sowing, watering and reaping the harvest,
loyal, steadfast, unmoveable, "always abounding
in the work of the Lord.
The world is steadily marching on to mass destruction;
what are WE doing to prevent this tragedy? Have we
taken every advantage that was presented to us,
every opportunity to share the gospel to the lost?
If Christ tarries, there will be other opportunities
to witness, to pray, to be a friend, to share. However,
the opportunities that were lost will never be reclaimed.
The people that crossed out paths may never pass
our way again. Souls that have died in sin can
never be 'snatched back' from the jaws of hell.

The harvest season is a season of joy.

Psalms 126:5-6

"They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that
goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed,
shall doubtless come again with rejoicing,
bringing his sheaves with him."

If we sow the seeds of the gospel, we are assured
of a harvest. God said His Word would not return
to Him void. He will accomplish His purpose.

10.  For as the rain cometh down, and the
snow from heaven, and returneth not thither,
but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth
and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and
bread to the eater:
 11.  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of
my mouth: it shall not return unto me void,
but it shall accomplish that which I please,
and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Isaiah 55:10-11

We may never see the 'fruits' of our labors on
this earth. We may 'plant' the gospel seed, someone
else may 'water', and someone else may 'reap
the harvest.'

" And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth
fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth
and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
And herein is that saying true, One soweth,
and another reapeth.  I sent you to reap that
whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men
laboured, and ye are entered into their labours."
John 4:3-38

Galatians 6:9
"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due
season we shall reap if we faint not."

Friends, let us be diligent workers in God's fields.
Let us take every opportunity that is presented to us,
and make the most of it. Let us not let anything
hinder our work, for the Bible says:
"I must work the works of him that sent me,
while it is day: the night cometh, when no man
can work."
John 9:4

Let us be like Jesus, and be "about the Father's
buisness!"
