The English department of North Harris College has something else to brag about. Students in a creative writing class at the community college (taught by writer Michael McFarland) yearned to extend the artistic support they experienced in the classroom. The result was an organization that today contiunues to offer advice and hope to undiscovered writers across America.
Talented and Creative, Ink (TCI) began to create publications after it became obvious that the established publishing field was unwilling to accept the heart felt experimentations of the undaunted TCI members. The result was Hidden Dimensions, an anthology of poetry and prose. Following this publication was the establishment of a literary journal, "No Experience Required." The tri-annual journal enables TCI to offer a portion of its success to any writer in the country, either through publication or editorial advice.
How often does such a diverse group of people unite to lead the independent publishing field into a new dimension of freedom? Where else can you listen to the ravings of a serious poet one moment and hear traditional stories from a Native American the next? TCI has always been and always will be open to all forms of literature (unless it's grossly indecent -- to the point it accomplishes nothing in the form of plot) and to anyone at all levels of ability. The TCI philosophy views writing as an art, and for this reason the group is gaining the reputation as an artist's haven.
