Alligators lay their eggs on land in the grass by the shore and the
mother will watch closely over them even helping them to hatch if
need be. She protects her young for at least one year after birth.
At one time they were considered an endangered species but are now
protected by enforced laws.
These are all pictures of Alligators. I got to watch
them feed these guys some dead chickens. Alligators are reptiles that
are classed as the archosaurs; which means ruling reptiles. Dinosaurs
also fall into that category. They live in both land and water; and
even while in the water have a great sense of the world around them
outside of the water. They are also carnivores and eat meat; feeding
on small animals that are either found in the water or at the water's
edge.
