My Tank Inhabitants

Well here it is!  What you have all been dying to see!  Ok, well maybe not all of you, but I know there is at least one person out there somewhere that will be like "Wow, look at those pretty fish!"  Currently, I own three different aquariums.  I have: a 20 gallon marine tank here with me at Virginia Tech, a 90 gallon freshwater aquarium, and my "pride and joy" 125 gallon marine reef aquarium!  If I could have brought my two bigger aquariums with me, believe me when I say that I definately would have.  I am called, by most people that know me, a "Fish Freak."  Pretty much any free time that I have that is not used studying, eating, sleeping, or partying, is used on my tanks.  Most people have a certain hobby that they spend a ton of money on.  Some people spend hundreds or thousands on stereo equiptment(Bill & Dad), others spend it on their lighthouse collections(Dad), or mass quantities of power-tools(Dad), well I spend my limited resources on my fish!  Well, enough of my gabbing...here are some of the pictures that I have taken somewhat recently.  I hope you enjoy them, and feel free to let me know what you think!

My 20 gallon Marine Aquarium

This is my newest addition to the tank that I have up here at Virginia Tech.  For the first time, I have decided to take on the agony of setting up a small saltwater tank instead of the freshwater one that I has last year.  So far it hasn't turned out to be too bad of an experience.  This little aquarium is nice because I can add stuff to it that I can not add to my 125 gallon.  This is my "White" Octopus.  Try to keep the color blind jokes down to a minimum here.  Usually this guy is white, but he will change colors in a blink of an eye when he gets stressed or when he is touching anything that is not white.

Here he is again.   See, I told you that he was a  White Octopus!

My 125 gallon Reef Aquarium

Here is just one forest of Pulsating Xenia soft coral that I have.  This piece is great to watch because the finger-like extensions at the end of each arm actually open and close in the current!  I guess you have to be a genuine "Fish Freak" like me to enjoy something that looks like a living weed.

Check out those colors!  I'm sorry that the picture is not the clearest in the world but I'm still waiting to scan some new pictures that should hopefully turn out better than these. These are just three of about twenty fish that I have in my tank.  From left to right: Purple Fire Fish, Purple Tang, Yellow Fox-face Tang.

And there is everyone's favorite!  The Percula Clownfish.  This baby has been with me for a long time and has gone through a number of tank changes over the years.  In the background is my Black Ribbon Eel. Hopefully, since he is in a bigger tank now, I won't have to worry about him jumping out again!  Sorry about that Mom!

Here are my newest pictures of my tank.  This is my Six Line wrasse and one of my Bangai Cardinalfish.  Somehow this little guy manages to avoid the deadly jaws of my eel and looks great weaving in and out of every little crack in the rocks in my tank.

This was another good picture which shows about a quarter of the fish in my tank at home.  If you look closely you can see my Cardinal, Yellow Fox Face Tang, Purple Tang, both Percula Clownfish, way in the back is one of my four Convict Gobies, and my Marine Betta just to the right of him!

There it is!  All 125 gallons of saltwater and live rock!  I know you are all just like "Wow...Ohhh...Ahhh," or maybe not!  But oh well, I don't care, this is my baby and I love her very much!  I could spend hours just staring at it every day if I did not have other things to do.  I guess it is a good thing that I almost always have other stuff to do then!
