About the NDE
The "near death experience" has been popularized through the media in the last couple of decades. Many news documentaries, several major books, and some popular Hollywood movies has made the general public aware of the phenomena associated with a flat-line experience that propels the "mind of consciousness" toward a visionary light. The romantic comedy "Ghost" explored this theme. The theory and idea that some sort of 'afterlife' exists on a mysterious plane outside the realm of the physical.
The first major motion film I watched after my own personal experience was a movie titled "Resurrection."
Hardship of testimony:
I enjoyed watching the film because I could relate to the hardship the main character expressed about trying to put the experience into words. There are no words in the vocabulary of humanity adequate enough to accurately describe the sense of joy, love, and harmony that comes from the "light" during the mystical "out of body" experience. The movie touched on so many various themes associated with my own personal experience. My Grandfather had been the person in my family - whom I opened up to. A voice of experience and wisdom. He stated I had to be cautious in sharing testimony of my experience. He felt that "dark" and "unenlightened" minds might view my testimony with suspicion and superstition. In the movie "Resurrection" - this was the main thrust of the theme.
Strangers:
In the aftermath of my 'near death experience' - I had an acute case of retrograde amnesia. I had no memory of family, friends, or acquaintances. The line was blurred between a stranger - and what friendly relations was about. Everyone was a stranger to me for weeks after the NDE. I had an impression what a friend was, and what family was about. All my personal history was wiped clean. I was working on trying to re-establish some sort of connection with people - and at the same time - I was trying to talk about the memory I had of the "other worldly" travel into an extraordinary light. (Afterlife) My testimony was often meet with ridicule and mockery. It was almost to the point of it being a "verbal bashing." It would cause me to react to the mockery with a bitterness.
After Effects:
Some of the after effects of the 1978 NDE was a mystical connection to 'spirits.' Not only spirits I had encountered in the NDE, but spirits of friends who had passed on. By the age of 21 - I had three friends who had passed away at a young age.
Humor:
I tried to deal with the "shock" of the rippling mystical effect with humor. I got used to dealing with "ghostly" encounters. I took it all in stride.
Mystery:
When I returned from the NDE - what I encountered while in the light became something of a mystery to myself as well. My biggest mystery was the history of my childhood.
Miracles:
During the first year after my NDE, I witnessed several miracles that defied humor logic and went against the laws of physics.
Themes:
In this section - I share what the aftermath of my NDE was like dealing with the various themes associated with the knowledge I gained though the NDE. Ghosts, spirits, miracles, reincarnation, and various other themes.
