Mission Statement
It is the purpose of the Kentucky Orphan Company to promote and encourage
interest in and knowledge of the period of United States history known as the
War between the States, which occurred during the years 1861 through 1865. The
aforementioned interest to be generated and knowledge acquired through study of
history and participation in reenactment and living history environments
demonstrating period appearance and practices in all appropriate instances.
This purpose is held exclusive of any intent to promote or participate in
present day political or economic ideals or beliefs. Further, it is not the
purpose of this unit to be divisive, but rather, to unify through helping
instill a greater appreciation of our past.
It is believed the value of any enlightenment obtained through a more
accurate understanding of our history is self evident.
