DECKS & MIXING |
Deckswise I've got 2 Technics SL-1210MK2's,
industry standard and to be honest I wouldn't touch anything else. Gemini PS-525 bog standard mixer and a Pioneer CDJ-100s for CD mixing.
Headphones Sony MDR-V500. |

MUSIC PRODUCTION |
I've been building a small home studio for several years now, I've probably wasted a lot of time and
money on stuff I didn't need...as most beginners do, and I've certainly suffered from severe periods of
GAS (gear acquisition syndrome), but after many mistakes I have finally got a set-up I am happy and familiar
with, a small amount of carefully chosen outboard equipment and a shed load of software.

MISSION |
I firmly believe that if dance music is good, you shouldn't require any drugs to get into it.
Quality dance music should uplift the soul and provide the energy necessary to entice even the most unwilling to the dancefloor.
When I DJ I target the drug-free clubbers, keep them dancing and entertained and you can guarentee a full dancefloor. So I am pretty much
on a mission to do this with the choons I produce. I am very much going on the Lab4 tip. Twisted synths, complex arpeggiated riffs
and a fast tempo. I doubt I will ever reach the standard of Lab4 but I hope to find my own unique style in my time trying. The recent progression
in hardcore to a more hard trancey sound has also been a massive influence.

JANET JINX : THE TYRANY |
(160bpm faster than a rabbit gets f**ked mix)
This is a heavily Tidy Two influenced track and features the sample from
Samuel L Jackson's bible speech in pulp ficton "The truth is....you're the weak...and I am the tyrany of evil men."
Fast as hell uplifting hard trance, high pass filtered squealing synths and a scot project influenced breakdown.
I have spent nearly a month on this, to the point where I am absolutely sick of hearing it. It should have a big acid line from
rebirth over it but everytime I bundle the track as an audio file the 303 goes out of tune?!?...when I figure out what's going on I'll bung the acid
version up here. |

USEFUL STUFF |
I don't know many people making choons, so I really have struggled through trial and error and a lot of
book/internet reading to get to just the stage where I can actually sit and start putting a choon together.
So here is a list of things which I have found well useful recently...
|
PROPELLERHEADS WEBSITE |
Invaluable info, tricks/tips and general info when using Reason. The section on mastering
I also found particularly useful, not just in mastering choons, but also DJ mixes....a top resource.

AUDIOTUTORIALS.com |
Contains a section which literally tells you everything you need to know about Reason, including great screen shots.
Also has a wealth of superb tutorials on compression, eqing, mastering etc etc. I'm still reading this site now, there
is so much good stuff on there.
