Society of Colonial Wars National Number 3006.spouse:From TR4Mar25,2634, from Wells American Family Antiquity V1 p25;.founded by Ellis Barron, one of the family of Palatine Barons of Burnchurch in the County of Waterford, Ireland, and related to Milo Barron, an Augustine Canon and Prior of Innistock, who was consecrated Bishop of Ossory in 1527, and died 1551; and Roland Barron, who was consecrated Bishop of Cashel in 1553 and died 1561; also Nicholas Barron, who was mitered Abbot of Jerpoint in 1618. Ellis Barron was born in Ireland, probably Waterford, about 1600, and emigrated to America about 1640." The Barrons of Burnchurch were a branch of the Fitzgerald family which called itself Fitzgerald alius Barron.., and finally dropped the Fitzgerald and used Barron. The family goes back to Maurice, son of Gerald, who went from England with Strongbow (Earl of Pembroke) in the invasion of Ireland in 1169. O'Hart's Irish Pedigrees gives much about the Fitzgerald family, as do any history of Ireland. In O'Hart's Vol 2, p 35, mention is made of a William BaRRON OF kIL?SKE, cOUNTY wEXFORD, GENTELMAN, whose sopn died 1637, and a footnote states "This family of Barron..was origionally Fitzgerald, baron of Burnchurch."...
