Bryan Adams title

One of my favourite artists of all-time. He has provided me with years of music to jam along, sing along, and think about special people through his lyrics.

He's an artist that writes lyrics for himself, ones that aren't done with "hit" in mind, but more from experiences, thoughts and feelings of his. That's something that has endeared him with fans, old and new. Plus, it doesn't hurt that he's a Canadian boy!

Below are the listings of his albums, along with some of the songs I most like.

1980

Tracks:

Don't Ya Say It
Give Me Your Love
Hidin' From Love

Comments about this album:

I can't say that I've actually heard of this album, much less any of the songs, but it was his very first release. I'm sure they aren't too bad, but I will take a listen whenever I get my hands on a copy.

Comments about this album:

This was the first album that put him in the spotlight. It produced a few hit songs that left him in the mind of the public. Those songs for me are Cuts Like A Knife, Straight From The Heart, The Best Was Yet To Come and This Time.

Cuts Like A Knife is a song that I can take to heart and put failed relationships to rest. Putting past feelings to rest and moving on, as painful as it may seem, that's what this song is all about.

Tracks:

Cuts Like A Knife
Don't Leave Me Lonely
I'm Ready
Let Him Know
Straight From The Heart
Take Me Back
The Best Was Yet To Come
The Only One
This Time
What's It Gonna Be

Cuts Like A Knife

Fave Lines: Now it cuts like a knife, but it feels so right

Straight From The Heart is one of those pretty ballads that makes you think of that someone special, especially when
you're having one of those moments where sweet things are being said from the heart. I know how those moments feel,
they are so special and they give you butterflies in the stomach. The song is really about having another go at a
relationship, but since I haven't wanted anyone back after things didn't go so well, I like to look at the song from this
other perspective.
Fave Lines: You know I'll never go, as long as I know, it's coming straight from the heart

The Best Was Yet To Come is a song I've come to rediscover. It holds so much extra meaning to me now than it ever
had in the past. Previously, I had looked at the song as a nice little ballad, quiet music that puts you in a mood to
think about someone, just because. That special person to me will know what I mean by how perfect my choice for
fave lines are, minus the third line and changing 'you would be the lucky one' to 'I would be the lucky one'.
Fave Lines: Just a small town girl in the city lights, the best was yet to come, then lonely days turned to endless
nights, the best was yet to come...how were you to know, that you would be the lucky one, ain't it funny how time flies,
when the best was yet to come

This Time is another song that has come to have new meaning to me. In the past, it was a fun song to sing along to
and to turn up whenever it came on the radio. Now I look at the song and think back to a time when I wanted someone,
but couldn't have her. It's only fitting that this song has lyrics that mirror the exact same thoughts I had when she was
no longer attached to anyone.
Fave Lines: This time everything is all right, no way she's gonna get away, this time everything is easy, any day - I'm
gonna make her mine; Well it's hard to take cause she's miles away, and I've waited a long time, but the feelin's right
and darlin' one of these nights, yeah - I'm gonna let you know

1984

Tracks:

Ain't Gonna Cry
Heaven
It's Only Love
Kids Wanna Rock
Long Gone
One Night Love Affair
Run To You
She's Only Happy When She's Dancing
Somebody
Summer Of '69

Comments about this album:

This was a fun album to listen to, mostly for the fact that it got a lot of airplay and the songs hit the top of the charts. Of course there were the few songs that stood out to me, namely Heaven, Run To You, Somebody and Summer Of '69.

Heaven was the song that stood out above the rest to me. It was, and still is, one of his best ballads to date. When I hear it, it makes me

Reckless

think about the special girl in my life, the one that makes me feel like I'm in heaven every single day I spend time with
her. If that sounds sappy, oh well, you'll just have to deal with it yourself!
Fave Lines: Baby you're all that I want, when you're lyin' here in my arms, I'm findin' it hard to believe, we're in heaven,
and love is all that I need, and I found it here in your heart, it isn't too hard to see, we're in heaven; Oh - once in your life
you find someone, who will turn your world around, bring you up when you're feelin' down, ya-nothin' could change what
you mean to me, oh there's lots that I could say, but just hold me now, cause our love will light the way

Run To You is a killer song. It's one I use to turn the volume up and just let ride. It may not be that new anymore, but
it's still a very good song. Newer thoughts from listening to this song include thinking about my girlfriend whenever
the chorus comes up, mainly because I'd run to her at the drop of a hat, no questions asked. It also brings back
memories of winter and fun in the snow for whatever reason, go figure!
Fave Lines: I'm gonna run to you, I'm gonna run to you, cause when the feelin's right I'm gonna run all night, I'm gonna
run to you

Somebody...another fun song to just turn up and bop along to. You can't always have ballads and quiet songs now,
can you? Here you get an upbeat tempo, while at the same time the lyrics can make you think about that special
somebody, or maybe that's just me? Considering I like to think about my girlfriend whenever something nice is said in
a song, it might just be me afterall.
Fave Line: Well your eyes were like diamonds

Summer of '69 is yet another toe-tapping song with an upbeat tempo. This song reminds me of days in the past
where I've had fun doing things with friends and wishing the summer would never end. It wasn't exactly the summer of
'69 because I wasn't even born yet, but the old memories are still fresh and feel like they were only yesterday.
Fave Lines: Oh when I look back now, that summer seemed to last forever, and if I had the choice, ya - I'd always
wanna be there, those were the best days of my life

1987

Tracks:

Hearts On Fire
Heat Of The Night
Home Again
Into The Fire
Native Son
Only The Strong Survive
Rebel
Remembrance Day
Victim Of Love

Comments about this album:

Some called it a disappointment as a follow-up album to one that sold millions and produced hit after hit. This one had it's share of songs that lasted with me. It may not have sold as well, but it's still Bryan, and they are still his songs. Songs I liked were Hearts On Fire, Heat Of The Night and Into The Fire.

Hearts On Fire was a song I just liked listening to, not for any particular reason, though now it has meaning in terms

Into The Fire

of how I felt about someone right from the time I got to know her and how she's basically got my heart on fire for her.
Fave Lines: Oh this heart's on fire, right from the start it's bin burnin' for you, oh this heart's on fire, one thing honey -
this heart's true; Some got it good some got it bad, but you're the best I ever had, I never worry you're so fine, from now
on babe I'm gonna be by your side

Heat Of The Night...one of his songs that wasn't geared towards the pop/have-a-good-time sound. It was more of a
mature sounding song, from it's darker sounding music to it's lyrics about the pressures of life, or at least that's how I
looked at it. It was a different pace for him and I guess that's why I liked it. Change isn't always a bad thing.
Fave Line: Don't look back don't ever turn around

Into The Fire was another one of his 'darker' songs, but had a good message in it, if you paid enough attention. It's
about living your life to the fullest and living your dreams out because when you reach the time to move into the next
world, it'll be too late.
Fave Line: Time won't stand still for you

Comments about this album:

An album that was filled with both upbeat songs, and one that was filled with some of his best ever work in terms of ballads. The ballads are the ones that stood out for me on this one. Even though one was played quite a bit, it still remains one of my favourite all-time songs, probably ranking at #2.

Tracks:

(Everything I Do) I Do It For You
All I Want Is You
Can't Stop This Thing We Started
Depend On Me
Do I Have To Say The Words?
Don't Drop That Bomb On Me
Hey Honey - I'm Packin' You In!
House Arrest
If You Wanna Leave Me (Can I Come Too?)
Is Your Mama Gonna Miss Ya?
Not Guilty
There Will Never Be Another Tonight
Thought I'd Died And Gone To Heaven
Touch The Hand
Vanishing
1991
Waking Up The Neighbours

My favourite songs from this album
include (Everything I Do) I Do It For
You
, Can't Stop This Thing We Started,
Do I Have To Say The Words? and
Thought I'd Died And Gone To Heaven

(Everything I Do) I Do It For You is

what you call a monster ballad. It's one of his prettiest songs ever about love and commitment to that special person. I
still love this song, even though it was played a million times on the radio when it came out. It set the record on Billboard
for the longest stay at number one, something like 15 straight weeks.
The song is about knowing you've found the right person and would go through a wall for them because you love them so
much. This is basically how I feel about my girlfriend, she's the one I'm totally in love with and would do anything for her,
including sacrificing my own life in order for her to be safe.
Fave Lines: this song is too good to just put a few lines, so here's the whole song:

Look into my eyes - you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart - search your soul
And when you find me there you'll search no more
Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

Look into my heart - you will find
There's nothin' there to hide
Take me as I am - take my life
I would give it all I would sacrifice
Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it there's nothin' I want more
Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

There's no love - like your love
And no other - could give more love
There's nowhere - unless you're there
All the time - all the way

Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it there's nothin' I want more
I would fight for you - I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you - Ya I'd die for you

Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

Robin Hood Soundtrack
This song was featured in the movie Robin Hood- Prince of Thieves, and is included on the soundtrack, as well as Bryan's cd.

Can't Stop This Thing We Started is a fun song, full of good natured teasing about not trying to stop someone from
loving and wanting the person they have, not that the person would want them to walk away, but it's saying that the way
I feel about you, you better not try to stop me from feeling this way because it's not going to happen.
The other nice thing about this song, to me that is, is the video, where they're blowing up instruments. It may look
cheesy, but I liked watching it for some reason.
Fave Lines: You might stop a hurricane, might even stop the drivin' rain, you might have a dozen other guys, but if you
wanna stop me baby - don't even try, I'm goin' one way - your way, it's such a strong way - let's make it our way

Do I Have To Say The Words?...another one of those ballads that contains lyrics that relates to a lot of couples in
love. There are times when one of them needs the other, just to be with them, to hear sweet words of why they love you
and to have the feeling of being needed. I've had those times and just having my girlfriend say one little thing can make
me feel so happy inside. Just knowing she's right there for me, to make me feel better is what makes me love her as
much as I do.
Fave Lines: I don't wanna let you go, so I'm standing in your way, I never needed anyone like I'm needin' you today;
Rescue me from despair, tell me you will be there, rescue me - darlin' rescue me

Thought I'd Died And Gone To Heaven is one of those love ballads about sharing your love and feelings for the one
you only want. Ever since I met my girlfriend, I think of her every single time I hear this song. She makes me feel so
warm inside with her love and it feels like I really am in heaven, or at least flying so high above the clouds.
Fave Lines: again, this is another one of those songs that I like so much that I have to include the entire song.

Bryan3

Love is forever - as I lie awake
Beside you
I believed - there's no heaven
No hideaway - for the lonely

But I was wrong - crazy
It's gotta be strong
It's gotta be right

Only wanted to stay a while
Only wanted to play a while
Then you taught me to fly like a bird

Baby - thought I'd died and gone to heaven
Such a night I never had before
Thought I'd died and gone to heaven
Cause what I got there ain't no cure for

Ooo it's so easy
What you do to me all night angel
I never loved - I swear to God
Never needed no one, 'til you came along

Here I come baby
It's gotta be strong - it's gotta be right
Only wanted to stay awhile
Only wanted to play awhile
Then you taught me to fly like a bird

Baby - thought I'd died and gone to heaven
Such a night I never had before
Thought I'd died and gone to heaven
Cause what I got there ain't no cure fo

I feel fast asleep - I feel drunk
I dream the sweetest dreams
Never wanna wake up

Never thought it could be this way
No doubt about it - can't live without it
Never thought it could be this good
You made love to me - the way it oughta be

Comments about this album:

This is his greatest hits album...all of the songs are very good and most of them have been commented on above. It's a good album to get if you haven't heard much from Bryan in the past.

So Far So Good

Comments about this album:

Interesting album, that's for sure. When I
first heard the song names, I had to take
a second look at the person singing it,
just to see if it really was Bryan Adams
and not someone else that had the same
name. As it turns out, it was him. I was
a little sad because these songs weren't
what I expected from him. I guess
everyone goes through a phase where they
feel like they've done all they could with one
way of music and in order to stay fresh,
they have to try different things, at least I
hope that's what he was thinking with this
one

Tracks:

18 Til I Die

Songs that stood out for me, in terms of liking them were Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman? and Let's Make A
Night To Remember
.

Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?...I liked this song at first because it was a nice song to listen to, but later
on, it started to remind me why I feel in love with my girlfriend. It relates to the way I've come to know her, really
understanding her from her thoughts to her dreams. Those are such important things to me and I wouldn't trade a
single one of those times for anything in this world.
Fave Lines: When you love a woman you tell her that she's really wanted, when you love a woman you tell her that
she's the one, cuz she needs somebody to tell her that it's gonna last forever; You got to give her some faith - hold her
tight, a little tenderness - gotta treat her right, she will be there for you, takin' good care of you, ya really gotta love your
woman...

Let's Make A Night To Remember is a song about spending a special night with that special someone. Nothing
more needs to be said about that.
Fave Lines: I think about ya all the time, can't you see you drive me outta my mind, well I'm never holdin' back again,
ya I never want this night to end, cuz I've never touched somebody like the way I touch your body, now I never want to
let your body go...

Comments about this album:

With all Unplugged albums, it provides
a new spin on any artist's songs. On
here you get to hear some of his older
songs done in a more acoustic way.
One song that stood out for me is
Back To You
.

Back To You is an upbeat, snazzy
song that can be considered a feel-good
song. The thing that stands out in this
one is in relation to my girlfriend. It
contains lyrics that reflect the way she
has helped me through some harder

1997
Unplugged

times in my life. I was unable to do some things that were pretty big steps for me, but with her patience and love, she
helped me feel comfortable enough to get over some hurdles. I can't thank her enough for that because those things
have really enhanced our relationship, beyond anything I ever expected.
Fave Lines: yet another song that has too many significant things to pick out just a few, so here's the entire song:

I've been down - I've been beat
I've been so tired - that I could not speak
I've been so lost that I could not see
I wanted things that were out of reach
Then I found you and you helped me through
And ya showed me what to d
That's why I'm comin' back to you...

Like a star that guides a ship across the ocean
That's how your love will take me home back to you
And if I wish upon that star - someday I'll be where you are
I know that day is coming soon - ya, I'm coming back to you

You've been alone, but ya did not show it
You've been in pain, but did not know it
Let me do what I needed to - you were there when I needed you
Mighta let you down, mighta messed you round
But ya never changed your point of view
And that's why I'm comin' back to you..

Like a star that guides a ship across the ocean
That's how your love will take me home back to you
And if I wish upon that star - someday I'll be where you are
I know that day is coming soon - ya, I'm coming back to you

I'm coming back to you
I'm coming back to you
I'm coming back to you
That day is coming soon
I'm coming back to you

Comments about this album:

A nice comeback, if you want to call it that, from
his previous release. This one has a pop sound to
it, with the likes of Mel C in a song, and his
electronica sound in Cloud Number Nine.
Nevertheless, it's a good album and one I'd play a
few times, or at least some songs because they
are good to me.
The ones I'd listen to a few times are Cloud Number
Nine
, On A Day Like Today and When You're Gone.

Cloud Number Nine is a song that I think about
when I'm with my girlfriend. She makes me so
happy and wanted, that I always feel like I'm on cloud

1998
On A Day Like Today

nine.
Fave Lines: And the moon is out and the stars are bright, and whatever comes s'gonna be alright, cause tonight you
will be mine - up on cloud number nine, and there ain't no place that I'd rather be, and we can't go back but you're here
with me, yeah, the weather is really fine - up on cloud number nine

On A Day Like Today...a song about enjoying life, having a day where nothing seems to bother you where you can walk
around with a smile, thinking happy thoughts.
Fave Lines: On a day like today, ya never wanna see the sun go down

When You're Gone...who can't like a song that Mel C sings on? Ok, so maybe that's nothing special, it's Bryan that we
all want to hear. It may sound like some cheesy pop song, but it relates to how sometimes I get antsy when my
girlfriend isn't around. Just about every line in this song reminds me of her. Judge for yourself.
Fave Lines: too many, so here's the whole song...

Bryan & Mel C

I've been wandering around the house all night
Wondering what the hell to do
I'm trying to concentrate but all I can think of is you
Well the phone don't ring cuz my friends ain't home
I'm tired of being all alone
Got the tv on cuz the radio's playing songs that remind me of you

Baby when you're gone - I realize I'm in love
The days go on and on - and the nights just seem so long
Even food don't taste that good - drink ain't doing what it should
Things just feel so wrong - baby when you're gone

I've been driving up and down these streets
Trying to find somewhere to go
Ya I'm lookin' for a familiar face but there's no one I know
This is torture - this is pain - it feels like I'm gonna go insane
I hope you're coming back real soon -cuz I don't know what to do

Baby when you're gone - I realize I'm in love
The days go on and on - and the nights just seem so long
Even food don't taste that good - drink ain't doing what it should
Things just feel so wrong - baby when you're gone

Comments about this album:

Another greatest hits package. What's
up with that? Ah well, no sense in trying
to figure that one out. Let's just enjoy
the music. This one did include a song I
like a lot called All For Love, featuring
Sting and Rod Stewart.

All For Love...It's a song with Sting! What else can you ask for? As for the song, it's a nice little ballad about love and
doing things out of love and feeling like one with the person you're in love with.
Fave Lines: I'll be the wall that protects you, from the wind and the rain, from the hurt and pain
