Reyna De Las Flores

 

The eldest and the only girl of the three children of Pabble, a dietary aid at Hamilton Park Health Care Center and Malu Generoso, a secretary at Kuwait Mission to the United Nations, Erim graduated as second honor at Saint Aloysius Elementary school

Even at her early years in the grade school, Erim had already shown leadership as evidenced by her being vice-president of the Student Council a cheer leader, a member of the volleyball team and also a member of the Youth Group, a get-together for religious activities. She has also a penchant for the printer's ink, proof of which was her membership in the staff of their yearbook, a talent that one can't simply pick up from the street. She was also a recipient of an award as the best in art and penmanship. The youngest among the Reyna Elenas, this cute bundle of innocent beauty loves to read, dance, draw and write poems. At present, Erim is in 9th grade at Hudson County School of Technology.

This lovely teenager migrated to the United States in 1991. Before she left the Philippines, however, she had already experienced being with Santakrusan as sagala from 1985 to 1990. Now, she had graduated from that role as a child participant and holds her own as this year's Reyna de las Flores.

Erim loves to be working with children, hence, her aspiration to be a pediatrician some day.

Virginia "NingNing" L Mayo Jr, who is the namesake of her mother, is the eldest of the six children of Nelson Tolentino and Virginia Lipa Mayo, a business minded couple .

Ning-Ning, as she is fondly called, finished her kindergarten at Caunosa Academy in Lipa City, Batangas, Phil and elementary grades at St Aloysius Elem School in Jersey City Her secondary schooling at St Dominic Academy in Jersey City brought honors and awards to this multi-talented belle, such as a member of

vice-pres. of the Math Club; vice-pres. of the Computer Club; peer minister; Four-year member of the Varsity Tennis Team; Capt. Of the St. Peter's Prep Varsity

Cheerleading Squad; Capt. of the Junior Varsity Softball Team and three-year Member of the Varsity Diving Team.

Eye-catching and also a beauty to behold, Ning-Ning is at present enrolled at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

A lover of sports, especially tennis, she hopes to be a computer engineer and go into business like her parents.

REYNA ELENA II

 

Margarita Sendin is the first of two daughters of Mr. & Mrs. Carmelito Sendin of Jersey City. She finished her elementary schooling at Saint Mary's Grammar School It is worth mentioning here that in the early stages of her schooling, her mother, Thelma who teaches at Saint Mary's Grammar School, used to tutor her and her younger sister, Carmelita, at home. Her father, Lito, is a company comptroller.

Graduating as valedictorian from Saint Mary's High School, Margarita was a recipient of a full Presidential Academic Scholarship in the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree with high honors and departmental honors; speaker: National Collegiate Honors Council's Annual Conference at State University New York Buffalo and Dean's List all semesters. Currently, she's taking up master in business administration at Saint Peter's College and hopes to graduate in May 2000. Outside the classroom, however, Margarita fond time to flex her muscles by being a member of the Varsity Team in College.

Having traveled with her parents and sister to Africa, Europe, the Middle East aid finally settling in the United States while still at a very tender age, Margarita must not have realized that the kit, the excitement and the experiences brought about by her travels must have put her in good stead and disposition in the ensuing years of her adult life.

This stunning beauty and brains who aspires to be a college professor specializing in business and technical studies is at present employed at DMR Consulting Group a computer consultant.

Reyna Elena I

Connie G Mercado is the sixth of seven children of Atty & Mrs Fausto C Mercado of San Juan, Batangas. A consistent honor student in grade school, she finished her secondary education at the University of the Philippines Rural High School at Los Banos, Laguna She obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of the Philippines and is presently pursuing a Masters degree in the same field at Columbia University this spring semester.

Connie balances work and schooling by engaging in other activities like dancing and working out A member of a Hula group which performs for free in nursing homes, senior citizens group and churches, she loves being with people and enjoys making others happy

As if her scholastic records were not enough to elicit accolades from far and near, Connie is a head-turner, especially for beauty-seekers Romeos. Joining a local beauty contest in 1990, she was chosen Miss Centennial at her hometown of San Juan, Batangas. This was topped by her recent crowning as Miss Asia International '98 at Atlantic City, New Jersey, besting 14 other U.S. based contestants from India, China, Pakistan, Korea, Guyana and Russia in beauty, poise, personality and intelligence In this hotly contested event, she also won two special awards: Miss Friendship and Best in Long Gown.

Connie loves taking challenges and seizing opportunities that come her way. She strongly believes in living every moment to its fullest potential.

Coming to the United States some four years ago, this independent, hardworking, goal-oriented, caring and fun-loving" lady is currently a supervisor at Daughters of Jacob Geriatric Center of New York.
