This new page is all about the Macintosh Operating System itself (basically the System Folder). It's short now, but that's because it's new!
Energy Saver Control Panel Problems

Be careful if you rely on the the Energy Saver control panel to shut down your computer while you're not home. Many times it doesn't work. If you're on the Internet it may not properly shut down your computer since it may think someone is using it.

Try visiting the Hotline Add-ons (MacOp Software) page for a solution to this problem. It contains a file that is used with the OneClick scripting program to shut your computer down on a timer. It works too!

(Note: You must own a copy of OneClick to use this software. The shut down utility does not require Hotline.)

Date and Time Control Panel Problems

You may have noticed problems with the Date and Time control panel while on the internet. A very annoying dialog box will sometimes appear and tell you that your time could not be set properly because the connection is too slow.

This usually happens when your are away from your computer waiting for a download which doesn't give enough bandwidth to check your time. As a result your computer will lock up until you manually press okay. Even your downloads will pause until this box disappears.

Save yourself from this problem, change the network time server option to "manually".

If you have any OS problems or anything else to say about the Mac OS System Folder components please do so on the Communication page.
