Note the following: (1) Your family line used the spelling "de Socio" more regularly than other lines of the same family name in Campobasso; (2) The two Pasquales, grandson and grandfather respectively, actually signed their own names (they were literate) and used the spelling de Socio; (3) Michele de Socio died in the Comune di Guglionesi, Distretto di Larino, and Provincia di Molise, (4) The book excerpt I sent you mentions a de Socio line -- using that spelling -- from Guglionesi. Furthermore, it states that the Guglionesi line was of a higher class than the di Soccio peasants of Campobasso; (5) The titles of respect Don and Donna were used when referring to Pasquale de Socio and Angela Antonia Latessa respectively; and (6) Michele de Socio was a merchant by profession. I think you should work on an accurate translation of that book excerpt, as I believe it might refer to your family line. It seems that your line was of the higher class in Campobasso.

Have you worked with the records microfilmed by the Church of Latter Day Saints? There are many blanks in your family tree that could be filled by researching these records, as well as details that I have not included in deference to limited research time. You can also get copies of the original records, rather than a certificate from Italy that is secondary evidence (with all of its shortcomings). I think a few of your family lines can be extended with additional research; although your de Socio line has been extended as far as possible with the civil records...you will need religious records to go further with that line. By the way, many of the extracts included in the processetti provide the Book and Page numbers where the actual church record is located. This is very helpful if you are trying to get a copy of or information from a particular church record.

I have attached a photograph of Chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore [now known as Santa Maria del Monte] as it looks today. Note that many of your family records were from this church. Although the church dates back to the 11th century, its appearance today is the result of many restorations, the latest being in 1944/1945, together with construction of the bell tower in 1970. It was originally called Santa Maria de Supra or Santa Maria de Campobasso. About 1525 it took the name Santa Maria Maggiore, which it kept until 1829 when the cathedral took that name. Since then it has been known as Santa Maria del Monte.

I have also attached a file copy of a Pedigree Chart of the information set forth above. If you do get a good translation of that book excerpt, I would like to see it.

Best regards
