Pulley Line

We know that the original Pulley immigrants came to America from England.  We're not sure when they arrived, but it was  possibly in the mid to late 18th century. There were Pulley's in the Revolutionary War but we haven't yet identified them as part of our line.

As was the custom, the Pulleys traveled from their home in England to America with a group of their neighbors and extended family members. Among these were the Mathis family and the Dicus family. In many of the tax  records and census records

of Tennessee for the late 18th to the early 19th century you will find these three families living in close proximity to one another

Our Pulley line begins with William Green Pulley. He was born in Kentucky about 1815. In about 1836 he married Mary Johnston. Mary was born about 1819 in Georgia. William and Mary had 12 children, one of whom was William Cassius G.  Pulley, my great, great grandfather.
