Different Breeds Page 2

Chartreux

The Chartreux is a sturdy French breed coveted since antiquity for its dense, water-repellent fur. Its husky, robust body structure is neither cobby nor classic but does not deter from the cat's extreme agility, intelligence and amenability. The Chartreux is a blue-gray cat, with color ranging from ash to slate. The beautiful blue coat is complemented by eyes that are copper to gold; deep, brilliant orange is the preferred eye color.

Egyptian Mau

The Egyptian Mau is the only natural domesticated breed of spotted cat. The Egyptian is an active, colorful cat of medium size with well-developed muscles. Alert and even tempered, the Egyptian Mau comes in three colors: bronze, silver and smoke. Light green eyes complement the cat's beautiful spotted coat.

Exotic

Affectionately known as the lazy man's Persian, the Exotic is the result of crossing a Persian with an American Shorthair. The Exotic retained the sweet, charming expression of the Persian with the shorter coat of the American Shorthair. The coat is dense, plush and soft, and comes in all the beautiful Persian colors, including parti-colors, pointed colors, shadeds, smokes and tabbies.

Munchkin

Munchkins are distinguished by shortness of the legs. They are sound and healthy cats; through many years of genetic testing and breeding they have proven free of any defect or spinal problems. The breed is being reestablished in long or short coats and a variety of patterns and colors. They maintain their kitten personality for their entire life, making them the perfect choice for the person who desires a kitten that never grows up.

Persian

The Persian is a heavily boned, well-balanced cat with a sweet expression and soft, round lines. Large round eyes set wide apart in a large round head contribute to the overall look and expression. A long, thick coat softens the lines of the cat and accentuates the round appearance. The Persian's beautiful coat is long and thick, standing away from the body. An immense ruff continues in a deep frill between the cat's front legs. Persians come in a rainbow of colors, including parti-colors, shadeds, smokes, solids and tabbies.

Ragamuffin

Ragamuffins are large cats with silky, plush nonmatting fur and large, expressive oval eyes. They are extremely docile, affectionate, intelligent, playful, people-oriented cats. The Ragamuffin is available in a rainbow of colors: black, tortie, smoke, tabby, red, color points and mink. It also comes in the solid, bicolor and mitted patterns. All colors have the same placid, loving temperament.

Ragdoll

The Ragdoll is a large, heavily boned cat with a full chest. Graced with beautiful blue eyes, the Ragdoll comes only in the traditional Siamese colors of blue, chocolate, lilac and seal points. The Ragdoll also comes in three patterns: color point, mitted and bicolor. Open and friendly, the Ragdoll is gentle and affectionate.

Siamese

The Siamese, a slender, elegant cat, originated in an exotic part of the world once called Siam. The prominent feature of the breed is its striking coat pattern of a light body with dark points. The point colors include blue, chocolate, lilac and seal. Other distinguishing characteristics of the Siamese are its distinctive voice and sociable nature.
