Chapter 3

"Hey Beautiful!" J.C. shouted happily, holding his arms out, and embracing her for a hug. Melony gladly hugged back, letting him into the door. She quickly shut it, letting go of him. "Oh my gosh, it's so great to
see you again. What has it been? Half a year since you've been on tour?" Melony said, taking his big, black trench coat from him which was soaked with a good ol' evening of Florida's rain shower. "Man, it's pouring out there." J.C. sputtered out, running his hands through his spikey, brown wet hair. "Ya, well, I don't mind. I love the rain." Melony said cheerfully. "You were always a weird child." J.C. told her, turning around to face her. "OOo, I'll show you weird!" Melony playfully growled out, lunging for him. She jumped, wrapping her legs around his waist, sending them both onto the couch. There, Melony began tickling her best friend all
over. "S-S-Stop!" J.C. squealed out. Melony laughed, and than moved in for the kill... Inside the thighs... "Oh no!" J.C. shouted, laughing and giggling
uncontrollably. "Who's the weird one now? huh? Squirmer!" Melony teased. "Ok, Ok! I give!" J.C. screeched. She grinned, pulling her hands off of him. He than took her by surprise, and pushed her off his lap. "Get off me!" She flopped down onto the carpeted floor. "Hey!" Melony shouted angrirly. J.C. laughed,
and stuck his socked foot out pushing her back down as she attempted to get up. Her eyebrows arched, and she moved to get up again, but J.C. once again stuck his foot out, pushing her back down. "J.C.!" Melony
whined. "J.C.!" J.C. mimicked with a loud wail. "Your such a whiner." He added, grabbing an apple out of the fruit bowl on the coffee table, and stuffing it into his mouth to take a bite. His face than grew disgusted, and he spewed the apple out of his mouth. Melony burst into a tumble full of giggles, laughing in full hysterics. J.C. just stared at her in shock. "Their wax you idiot!" Melony exclaimed. "W-Wax?! What the hell are you doing with waxed fruits!" J.C. growled out, serious. "For decoration." Melony simply told him with a smile. "Your a sick woman Mel." J.C. told her. "Awe...poor baby. Did the mean old waxed fruits hurt you?" Melony cooed, getting up, and playfully pinching his cheeks. "Stop!" J.C. said irratibly, pushing her hand away. "Well gee, I didn't think you would get all mad Don't need to start snapping." Melony told him, glaring, J.C. took one look at her, and his face immedietly sofetened. "I'm sorry Mel. I didn't mean to get angry with you." J.C. apologized. "It's ok, But next time, I'll just have to kick your ass." Melony said with a grin. J.C. raised an eyebrow. "Oh really?" "Ya." Melony responded. Realizing what then was coming, Melony started to get up. "Well I'll show you who's gonna kick who's ass!" J.C. said, pulling himself off the couch. She squealed, dodging his outreached arms.

"Hey Angel!" Melony greeted the little ten year old girl, taking her in her arms. "Hi Melony!" She smiled happily, giving her a kiss on the cheek. "So how's my favorite little girl?" Melony asked, brushing Angel's bangs away from her face. "Good." Angel responded. "Good huh?" Angel nodded. "Melony! Melony!" Aaron, Angel's twin brother shouted gleefully, running out of the kitchen. Melony let Angel slide out of her arms, just as Aaron flew into them. "Whoa!" She laughed out, falling over. Angel giggled, and Aaron just grinned out his little boyish teeth, while sitting on her. "Wow, it's great to see you too Aaron!" She said with a smile. "Did you come to play with us?" Aaron asked eagerly.
Melony sat up, picking Aaron up off of her. "Not today hon. I promised your mom I'd help her fix the roof on the beach house." Melony said. "Awe..." Aaron wailed. "But how about this, if it's alright with your mom, I'll stay later and we'll sneak up to your brothers room, and play nintendo." She suggested. "Ya!" Aaron cheered. "Yay!" Angel shouted, jumping up and down. "Not you!" Aaron told Angel. "Now Aaron, that's not nice. You can play with us later if you want to Angel." Melony said. A happy Angel stuck her tounge out at Aaron. "Where's your mom?" She wondered. "In the backyard, waiting for you by the beach house." Angel replied. Melony got up and made her way to the backyard. The bright Florida sun beated down on her back, and bare shoulders. "Hey Jane!" Melony called out to Jane Carter who was busily removing shingles
from the roof. She looked up. "Mel, Hi! Your Early." Jane said, adjusting her big, tan straw hat. "Ya, well, I didn't have much to do this morning." Melony replied. "Ok than, this is great. If you would, could you maybe go into the garage, and grab me the hammer, and some new shingles.
If we work now, it won't take us to long.to finish." Jane asked. Melony nodded, taking her sunglasses off and made her way around the huge mansion. She smiled as she saw the big white garage, and went in. It was empty, and dark. She didn't need the light due to her spotting the things right away. A few minutes later she was up on the roof with Jane, removing the cracked shingles, and throwing them to the ground. "These
are the times when I wish Nickolas was home." Jane said. Melony laughed. "What about Bob? Wouldn't he have done the roof?" Melony wondered. Jane sighed. "Nope, not this year. His back is still bothering him from the last years Christmas bash." Jane told her. "Oh...well thats too bad. But I always had fun with construction anyway." Melony said. "So I hear you took Aaron to the Miami football game on Saturday." Jane
said, changing the subject. "Yep, I've never seen a young boy scarf down eight hot dogs in six minutes." Melony replied with a smile. Jane laughed loudly. "If you think that's amazing, when Nick was ten, he could eat twelve bowls of ice cream in five minutes." Jane said. Melony's eyes widened. "But after all, he was a growing boy." Jane added. "Still is." Melony mummered. She wished Nick was coming back sooner. Jane seemed to understand what was up from the solemn look that came upon her face. "Miss him?" She wondered. Melony nodded. "Well, don't worry. He'll be back before you know it." Jane assured her. Melony for
some reason could tell from a hint in Jane's voice that she was hiding something. "Is there something your not telling me?" Melony asked. Jane looked up and shook her head, not looking her in the eye. "Jane...come on, I know you. Your hiding something." Melony said. "I'm not hiding anything." Jane protested. "But I-" Melony began, but Leslie's voice
interuppted her. "Mom! Phone!" "I'll be right back." Jane told her, climbing down the ladder. Melony sighed, letting her go. Oh well, I'll find out later. Melony thought.

"Nick, calm down! Your shaking the jeep!" Kevin shouted, pushing his friend down. "Ya Nick...I'd like my jeep to last another couple years." Brian said. "But I'm just so happy! In only twenty minutes I'm going to
see my lady love, and hold her, and kiss her, and rub my hands all over her-" "Nick! Enough already! I agreed to drop you off, but while we're in the process of getting you home, please lets try to keep my jeep intact." Brian told him. "Ok, sorry." Nick apologized. "So how's Katie?" Kevin wondered, looking at Brian. "She seems to be Ok." Brian replied. "That's good, I'm really sorry about the ring. But look on the bright side, you had insurance!" Kevin said. Brian just stared at the road. "Why did you get the ring anyway? Are you going to ask her to marry you?" Nick wondered. "No! Well, I have givin it thought, but I don't know what she'll say, Plus, we still have our careers to think about. But the ring was just to show her how much I love her." Brian explained. "Well, if you love her so much, why don't you ask . I mean, three years is a long time." Nick said. "Tell me this Nick. You've been with Melony for four years. Why don't YOU ask HER?" Nick immedietly shut his mouth, lying back against the seat. Brian, and Kevin grinned at each other knowing they had won.

Katie ran to the ringing of her phone, hoping it would be Brian, but to her dissapointment, it was her manager.
"Hello Katie, listen, I need you to do me a huge favor." Paul spoke quickly through the phone. "Um, sure Paul, what is it?" Katie asked calmly. "There is a big banquet in two days back in the states, which is for cancer children, its a fundraiser to help find a cure, and we need some more celebrities to be there for the Charity, and I knew that you being the sweet, caring, woman you are would gla-" But Katie quickly cut him off. "Yes Paul, I will do that for you. No need to butter me up, I know you love me, but believe me, did you have to ask? You know I love helping out with these things, especially since I love children." Katie told him. "Oh thank you so much Katie, you don't know how much this will mean
to the children." Paul said gleefully into the reciever. Katie just smiled. "I'm happy to help Paul, but I have to go now, I'm going shopping for Brian's anniversery gift, and I'll call you later tonight to discuss my departure." Katie told him. "Ok hon, talk to you than." "Bye bye." She said, before hanging up the phone.

"Ok Jane, I'm done here, I'm just going inside to get cleaned up." Melony called out to Jane, who was just adding the finishing touches to the just finished roof. "Ok dear, Hang around as long as you like." Jane called back to her, waving. Melony smiled, making her way into the house while trying to clean the dirt off of her hands. It was dark now outside, and everyone was basically inside the house playing games. She made her way into the house, shutting the back door behind her. She could hear voices inside, coming from the living room. "Ha Ha! I won!" Melony heard B.J.'s voice shout. She grinned, shaking her head. Melony absently turned the corner, making her way upstairs. She bit her lip making her way into the bathroom. But
suddenly, she heard light music coming from Nick's bedroom. "What the-" She said turning around. She walked slowly towards the door, hearing the beautiful music. Suddenly, it slowly opened, the hallights dimming , and a bright green, and purple light bursted through Nick's room. Melony's heart began to pound as gentle words surfaced with the soft beat. "Open up...Your heart please..." Suddenly, a tall figure burst through the door. Melony dropped the dirty rag to the floor in shock, her eyes widening. She just watched him walk closer to her, slowly singing the unfamiliar words into the small microphone. He looks like an angel...was
all she thought due to being in deep shock. He knelt before her, entwining his fingers with her own, and continued, until the last verse. "Cause I see...Heaven... In your eyes..." Melony felt the shock fade away which made her shoot back to reality. "Oh my god!" She shouted as he got back up. Melony
jumped on him, which sent them both into the wall. "Oof!" "Nick, Oh my god! I-Can't-believe-its-you!" She exclaimed through kisses. He laughed, wrapping his arms securely around her while she kissed him eagerly. "I thought you weren't going to be here until next week." She said, finally pulling away from him. "Change of plans! I'm home early." He replied. "I'm so happy to see you, Brian took forever to get here, and I wanted to surprise you in a special way." Nick told her. "Well, I sure am surprised." Melony said. He smiled widely as the rest of the Carter's came running up the stairs. "Ah...I see you've found our little surprise
Mel." B.J. said with a smile. Melony grinned, laying her head against his chest. "Wow Nick, you totally went out on the special effects. You gave her more of a concert!" Leslie told Nick. He just laughed. "Well she's my baby, I do everything for her." Nick cooed in response, hugging Melony closer. "It is good to have you home sweetie." Jane said, hugging her son over a clingy Melony who was happy to let him go. "Ya Nick, but
Melony, I thought we were going to sneak into his room and play video games." Aaron said, looking up at her with his sweet expression. Nick looked down at her,
saying. "Oh really? Is that true Melony?" "Uh...um...yes..." She trailed off with a fake sense of nervousness in her voice, looking away. He grabbed her chin, gently making her face him again. "Melony, what are you teaching my brother?" Nick asked her, a small twinkle in his eye. "Hmm...how to act like his annoying, illmannered, older brother." Melony teased. Nick's eyes widened, and his mouth dropped. He looked at everyone in disbelief. "S-She just called me
annoying." He said in surprise. "Well Kao's, you are." B.J. said to him. "Ya! Messy Marvin..." Angel spoke out with a toothy grin. Nick's mouth dropped again, which began to fill with laughter. He pulled away from
Melony, and grabbed Angel in his arms, tickling her. "I can't believe it, my own little sister thinks I'm annoying!" Nick exclaimed. Angel giggled sticking her tounge out at him as he stopped tickling her. He chuckled, and rubbed noses with her. "It's back to "Nick's School of Life For you Two." Nick said. "Uh oh, NOW we're in trouble." Aaron said as he rolled his eyes, which left everyone laughing.

"Brian Thomas Litrell! What the hell happened to your guest room!?" Kevin exclaimed. Brian rushed into the large guest room Kevin sometimes stayed in. Brian's eyes shot open. "Whoa!" Kevin looked at his cousin, awaiting an answer. "Uh, oh...sorry Kev, I guess Katie and I got a little passionate, and lazy, and well forgot to clean up." Brian explained, nervously picking up some of the mess. "Brian! There are empty whip
cream bottles all over, shredded clothing, and please don't tell me how they got that way, a dent in the wall, half-eaten strawberries scattered everywhere," Kevin picked up a skimpy piece of a peach-colored lingerie,
and held it up in front of Brian. "And Lingerie! You knew was going to be sleeping here tonight. You could have at least warned me!" "I-I'm sorry Kevin! Living with Katie can make you do strange things!" Brian
apologized, frantically throwing the empty whip cream cans into the trash. Kevin just rolled his eyes. 'Well, please. Warn me next time. I swear, the hormones of two 23 year olds is completely ridculous." Kevin said, shaking his head, and walking out the door. Brian felt himself grin as he admired the room. He still remembered the night. He than groaned, letting his head fall onto the whip cream covered bed. "Seventeen more fucking days..." He groaned out. "Brian! Stop talking to yourself, and clean that damn room!" Kevin
shouted from the living room. Brian looked up and raised an eyebrow. "How the hell does he do that?" Brian said quietly. Then to his irratation, Kevin's voice
called out again. "I just do Brian! And be sure to spray the room with "Glade", it smells like heavy sex in there!"

"Know what I like best about horror movies?" Nick said, never taking his eyes off of the screen. "The slutty looking girls who show more cleavage than they say their lines?" Melony replied, flicking a piece of popcorn in her mouth. "No! Of course not." Nick responded in defense. "Ya right Nick. You know if one of those girls came onto you, you would gladly return their favor." Melony smirked. "I would not! I never see anybody
but you. Why would I even WANT to look at another girl, when I have the one I want right in my arms at this very moment?" Nick asked her. She shrugged. He grinned. "You don't believe me, do you?" "I didn't say anything." Melony responded, turning her attention back to the movie. Nick just looked at her, studying her calm features. He wrapped his arm more securely around her, trying to avert her attention back to him. But she refused to look at him. He huffed, and than coyly began rubbing his nose down her temple, and cheek, letting his blonde hair tickle her. He felt her tense, and move around slightly. "Just give in..."He whispered out, smiling. She still refused to answer, pretending to be entranced into the movie. He then began sexily blowing in her ear. From the looks of it, she was weakining. "C'mon Mel, you know you can't fight me. Resistance is not an option."
Nick whispered out sexily. Melony's breathing became heavier as Nick shifted, wrapping his other arm around her waist. "I missed you so much..." Nick whispered out huskily, gently kissing her temple, trailing his rosy lips down to her cheek, making a beeline for her neck. Nick knew he had won when she tilted her head slightly, letting him get a better aim at her neck. She moaned lightly at his soft touch. "I'm so glad your back." She said, wrapping her arms around his neck, closing her eyes. "Ditto..." He replied, lying her down on the couch. "Mmm...Nick, wait, lets not do this now. Let's talk first, I haven't seen you in four months, what have you been up too?" Melony said, pushing him up, off of her. He sighed sitting back into his regular position. "I just missed you so much Mel. Holding you, and everything." Nick told her. "So did I, but we have plenty of time for that. I just want to know what my Angel has been doing all this time without me." Melony told him, carressing his shoulders. "Well, pretty much same old stuff. Those four months were the worst
months of my life. All Brian did was kiss, and feel on Katie on our free time, not bothering to hang with me. A.J. was his same old flirteous self. Except he would bring several girls, obviously fans to his hotel room every night, doing god-knows-what! Kevin was OK, but sometimes he would turn back to his serious old self, lecturing me on things. Howie was alright, but he seemed really intuned to writing three new solo songs for himself, since he doesn't get lead very often. So I was pretty lonely." Nick explained. "Awe...I'm so sorry baby. But I really needed the education. Especially the degree." Melony apologized. "No, no. It's not your fault. I just wish we wouldn't be apart so much." Nick said. "Well. you won't be now. We were never together for twenty-four hours before the tour, and those four months were the longest we were ever apart. But now, we have a long while, due to the tour being over. So we have all the time in the world." Melony said. Nick grinned. "Yep, your whole apartment, all to ourselves." Melony smirked, kissing him. Nick deepend the kiss, and reached for the small lamp, turning it off, as he lowered her back down onto the couch. Suddenly, the phone rang. Nick let out a irratated growl, but continued
kissing her neck. "Don't answer it." He said. "But-" Melony started. "Just don't, please?" Nick asked. Melony returned to kissing him, deciding to let the answering machine get it. It than clicked on, as J.C.'s
familiar voice came on. "Hey sweet cheeks, just checkin up on ya. I'm bored, and the guys went out, so I'm here all alone...yep...all alone...I bet I know why your not answering. I heard Nick came back, so Hi Nick, and
enjoy my best friend-" Groaning, Melony picked up the reciever. "Ok hot stuff, shut the gap, and what do you want?" Melony asked. "Well hello to you too." J.C. said sarcastically. "J.C... what is it?" Melony repeated.
"Well, I wanted to know if we could hang out." He responded. "I can't now, Nick is here." She said. "I kinda figured that." J.C. said dissapointed. "Awe...I'm sorry. How about this? You and I,breakfast tommorow." Melony told him. "Ok I guess thats cool. I'll pick you up at 9:00." J.C. answered. "Ok cool. See ya than." Melony said. "Ok, bye! Bye Nick!" J.C.
shouted, loudly enough for Nick to hear. "Bye!" Nick shouted back. Melony giggled and hung up. "I never liked him much." Nick said. Melony smirked, and kissed his nose. "Jealous?" She asked. "No! Me?
No!" Nick defended. Melony chuckled. "Ya right Nick. Your jealous because he's spent more time with me." Melony told him. "I am not! He can spend time with you!" Nick said. Melony smiled, and kissed him
tenderly. "Wait, you don't believe me." Nick said, getting off her. "Nick!" Melony exclaimed. "You think I'm really jealous." Nick told her. "Nick, I was kidding!"
Melony said. "No you weren't! You really think I'm jealous!" "Nick, no, come on." Melony said, pulling him down next to her. "I love you. Not J.C., or anyone else. Only you. I was just kidding." Melony assured him, carressing his cheek. He sighed, leaning against her hand. "I'm sorry." He apologized. Melony smiled, and cuddled closer to him. "I forgive you. So when do I get to see the guys again?"
