Chapter 1
Melony felt her heartbeat quicken as she jumped up, and down in Aerobics Class. "Come on! Kick those legs higher!" Della, her Aerobic instructor, shouted over the music to the class. Sweat poured down her face as she stretched her muscles. "How're you holding up Mel?" Leslie asked, breathlessly, who was next to her.
"Never Better." Melony responded throughout kicks. "Stop chit-chatting Carter, and get those legs higher!" Della shouted once again to Leslie. Melony's heart felt as if it was going to burst with happiness at the name "Carter". Her boyfriend of five years, Nickolas Carter, was coming home from tour in a couple of weeks. He had been gone all summer, but Melony hadn't gone on tour with him like she usually did. She was going to college, not far from Ruskin, where Nick lived. They were both devestated, but they both knew Melony's dream was to become a marine biologist, and they needed an education for that. But over the summer she had grown close to the rest of the Carter family. Befriending B.J., and Leslie, and playing with her little munchkins, Angel, and Aaron. But she was really excited about seeing her sweet, blonde angel once again. To feel his lips on hers, to share all her
feelings with him once again. She missed it all. As the class moved into the punching bags, Melony thought back to how she met Nick. They had met when she was sixteen, and he was eighteen. She was interning in Florida at a marine center in Orlando, right next to Sea World. The Backstreet Boys were performing at SeaWorld that night, right after the dolphin show that Melony was going to run. When she was getting the dolphins ready for that night, Nick had come to find some quiet time to himself, when he found... her...

"Come on Brandi, come on. Touch the fish." Melony urged. Brandi, the stubborn dolphin, just made her little dolphin laugh, and swam away. "Oh come on Brandi, it's no time for games. We have a show tonight." Melony said, getting to her knees. The dolphin just swam around laughing. Melony let out a frustrated growl, when a voice came. "You know, maybe if you were a little more patient, you could get her to eat that
fish." "Who asked you?" Melony exclaimed, quickly turning around. She came face to face with a tall, blonde haired guy, with light blue eyes, and rosy lips.
"Sorry, you just, look like you could use some advice." The guy replied, a little shaken at the tone of her voice. But Melony wasn't the least bit fazed.
"Excuse me?! I'd like to see you do better! And why are you back here?
Authorized Personal ONLY. It says it right on the door." Melony told him.
"Well I'm sorry if I broke any rules, but I just needed some quiet." The guy started, walking over to the side of the pool, picking a fish up out of the bucket, and kneeling down. "I love these guys."
Brandi then came right up to him, and took the fish from his hands, letting the guy pat her. Melony's mouth dropped open in shock. It took a lot of will power to get a dolphin to even listen to her, and they listen, AND eat
off of a complete stranger?! Melony thought. She glared at the blonde stranger. He looked at her with his baby blues, brushing his soft looking hair back. "Uh...um...I've worked with these dolphins before. Brandi kind of knows me." He uttered out. "Oh really? When?" Melony asked, folding her arms. "A couple of years ago. I got to come here a lot, when I was doing a con- um...when I had some buissness here." He replied. She just continued to glare at him. He nervously stuck his hands in his trench coat pocket.
"I'm, uh, Nick." He said, trying to break awkward silence. She didn't even blink. He laughed slightly, biting his lip. "Ya, I'm Nick, Nick Carter." "That's nice." Melony said sarcastically. "You know, you don't need to be so rude...I-I don't even know you, and you don't know me, so you needn't act like you hate me." Nick spoke out, shakily, all in one breath. At that, Melony's expression softened a bit. He really does look like an Angel. She thought. A sweet one. He doesn't deserve this rudeness. "Look, I'm sorry. I'm just not having a real good day." Melony said, sitting on the edge of the huge pool, dangling her bare feet in the water.
Nick, seeing her upset expression, walked over to her. "Do you maybe, want to tell me about it? People say I'm a good listener." Nick said. She looked up at him, laughing slightly. "What?" He asked, a hint of defense in his voice. "You don't even know my name." Melony responded. He sat down next to her. "Well, why don't you tell me your name." He said, looking at her. "I'm Melony, Melony Fontaine." She told him, looking out across the pool. "Hi Melony Fontaine, I'm Nick Carter." Nick said jokingly, extending his hand. She smiled, gently taking it. "Now we're not strangers anymore." He said. She grinned.

Melony felt the same shy, foolish grin appear on her face as she thought about that moment. He's so wonderful. Melony gushed in her head. Then, totally not paying attention, the punching bag slammed into her, knocking her down. "Oof!" She exclaimed, sprawling onto the floor.
Everyone quickly ran to her. She saw at least a dozen heads hover over her. Her heavy breathing was then replaced by laughter. "Oops?" She giggled out. Soon, everyone was laughing with her.
