So what happened today...
May 8, 2002
............................ Oh, hello! I was sleeping there for a minute. Seems that all this practicing the Enka Band has been doing for this up and coming concert has taken its told on me. But it's worth it. The Enka Band certainty does not want to sound bad for it's wonderful concert goes. We would never want to disappoint you like that, or in anyway. I just hope that people can make to this concert. It's going to be great! I know what you are thinking, sure its not going to be great you just say that to get my money. Nope guess what? Admission is free so I promise the concert will be one not to be missed. Today we practiced and practiced on the concert music for tomorrow. The whole band just can't wait for the concert tomorrow and share the wonderful music with you. Please come if you can!

Ah the first new entree in the month of March! What a great month March is! This year Easter is in March! Oh and we can't forget St. Patrick's Day for all those Irish peeps! Anyways back to band! We have the line up for the concert March 14th! Friday we will be moving into the auditorium. Great I hope we don't have to move the chairs up there. Sorry Concert Band but we had to move um when we were that young like you. Mr. Caldwell has us play the music straight through and then work on some of the rough parts. But hopefully it's smooth sailing now! ttyl when something happens!

Whew! Today we have been doing what we have been doing since I wrote last! PRACTICING! We all know that saying practice makes perfect so that's what we'll do. We started out with 'American Patrol', then went to Treasury of Scales, then Fun with Fussel, and then go to 'Of a Distant Star'! Last but not least we have 'The Thunderer'! :::sigh::: Was that a mouthful or what? All I have to say now is what a total rush! Write to ya later!

What happened today? ALOT! Well, the band filled into the old band room again and we got a new piece of music to sight read. It was a wonderful piece and we can't wait till we can make the piece even better. When then got some other music, about 3 pieces to be exact. We had a little talking time and then it was back to work. We sight read another two older pieces and then we were ready to go. Write ya later!

Today was EXAM DAY! Yes, but as usual the Enka High School Band loaded up and moved it out to Candler Elementary School for a concert performance. The kids were so excited and the band loved getting to play for them and get them in to the Christmas mood! I can still see the kids imitating Mr. Caldwell as he directed us. Future band directors? We not as long as Mr. Caldwell is here at EHS. We added 'Christmas Favorites' and 'Christmas Festival' to the concert. I just can't get over the kids. I hope a majority of them will want to be in band. It's a wonderful learning experience and truth be told it makes you smarter to be in band! Well, it's CHRISTMAS BREAK and that is what the band will be doing for the next 2 weeks! So write to ya later...

Today in the Enka High School Band room was a pretty normal one. We warmed up with each scale then we worked on 'Jingle Bells Forever'. After that we worked on 'The Spirit of Christmas'. I like the end to the 'Spirit of Christmas' it very cool! Then we played 'Sleigh Ride' and then Mr. Reed helped us out on 'Symphonic Prelude on Adeste Fidelis'. We kept getting out 'Fantasy of Carols' but we never got to play it I don't think. I am pretty sure. Sorry here people I have learned so much music it hard to remember sometimes. But we sight read a new piece 'Christmas Festival'. That was the 1st time I had ever see that piece. Anyway, have a great weekend everyone!

So I have not wrote in a while. Sorry. Well today was a weird on in the Enka band room. We all can in and started to warm up then out of know where the fire alarm went off. It scared the heck out of me! So we all jumped up and went to the band field. We all talked and waited outside. Then we went back in when Mr. Caldwell told us to. SO we went inside and waited for a while and talked then Mr. Caldwell handed some video tapes to some people. Then we played "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" (which I think it everyone's new favorite!). Then we talked some more for a while. About 15mins till school was out we played "Sleigh Ride". We had to hurry to get in "Symphonic Prelude on Adeste Fidelis"!! But we did and we were dismissed. Well, that it what happened, a different kinda band day! I hope we have more like this.

Today the band rehearsed "The Spirit of Christmas", "Sleigh Ride", and
Jingle Bells Forever. Then we switched modes and got back into marching mode! The band practiced our Parade music until the bell rang. We are all anticipating going outside and marching around the track in preparation for The Asheville Christmas Parade.
