This is a conversion of the basic jacket pattern 1945. Instead of common piping or trim, I used brass zippers at the lower sleeve and across the patch pockets. The neckline change and detail about the zipper trim is in the SewImagination Workbook: Jackets. The fabric is the Mademoiselle Tweed offered from the September 2002 newsletter.

Hooks and Buttons:

With trim butting up to the edges of jackets that close at the center front, you have to rethink the closures. One way this can be handled stylishly is to use a specialty hook.

The buttons are really nothing so terribly special, but I offer things like this occaionally for newsletter fabrics.

The newest hook and button styles are shown below. The large square hooks in the top row come either nickel or gold and are packed 5 for $4.00.

row two, middle hooks, are nickel only and have a long hook tab; they're packed 5 for $4.00, while the third pair of hooks is smaller, nickel only, and 5 for $3.00.

I also stock some of the spectacular RIri zippers from Switzerland and some must be special ordered. They are such a fine quality that they are used by design firms such as Chanel. You can see them at www.riri.com

I also stock mink and feather trims. Email me for details. Mink trims are black or brown and come either flat to attach to the face of a garment or in a tube that has a seam allowance to apply between garment edges.
