What exactly are the outer senshi?? The outer senshi is a team consisted of four Sailor Warriors: Sailor Pluto (Setsuna Meioh, or Meioh Setsuna), Sailor Uranus (Haruka Tenoh, or Tenoh Haruka), Sailor Saturn (Hotaru Tomoe, or Tomoe Hotaru), and of course, Sailor Neptune (Michiru Kaioh, or Kaioh Michiru). Of the four senshi, Setsuna Meioh (Sailor Pluto) is the outer senshi leader that carried the talisman, Time Staff. Sailor Pluto was the warrior of the dead and time. But Sailor Saturn is the most powerful senshi, or at least one of the most powerful. She had the power to destroy a whole planet. So simply, Hotaru was the warrior of silence and destruction. Sailor Uranus was the warrior of the sky. She is very often criticised about her masculine ways. The outer senshi first appeared in Sailor Moon S. Sailor Pluto though first appeared in Sailor Moon R (2nd series). They weren't teamed up with the inner senshi at first, but as time went by, the team was united. The famous story began with Sailor Pluto. Rarely did she appear in the series over all. She first appeared in the R series, during the future storyline. Very little and obscure information was revealed about her. In the R series, when the Sailor Senshi needed to travel to the future to help save ChibiUsa's parents, Sailor Pluto was the one, who helped them travel to time to go to the future, where the senshi learned of their destinies. This was one of the more major, but very minor roles Sailor Pluto played in the R series. She also appeared a few other times, as a mysterious senshi, unknown to the Inner Senshi. Setsuna later appeared in the S series. She did not appear right away. In fact, Haruka and Michiru appeared before her in the S series. It was this series which revealed the Outer Senshi, their true identities, and their mission. Setsuna was known as Haruka and Michiru's provider, and mentor. When Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus went out to battle Eudial to find the talismans, Setsuna revealed herself as a "friend" of Haruka and Michiru to Usagi. She was a very lonely woman, who was ChibiUsa's guardian. As soon as Sailor Neptune and Uranus had their hearts taken from them to turn into the talismans, Sailor Pluto appeared in the aid of the Inner Senshi at the Marine Cathedral against Eudial. She also carried the third talisman called the Garnet Orb, which sits on her time staff. Appearing out of their talismans was the Holy Grail, which was what the Outers were searching for, and in it, would come out the Silent Messiah who would save the wrld from destruction. For details of Haruka and Michiru, please visit Michiru's Story. The Silent Messiah happened to be the little firefly, Hotaru Tomoe, who appeared to be Sailor Saturn. She was the daughter of Dr. Professor Tomoe, who was the enemy of the Senshi, and cooperated with the Witches 5. She was an enemy when she was posessed by Mistress Nine. But later, was cured by Sailor Moon. Hotaru is a very nice and lonely girl. She made really good friends with ChibiUsa. To preserve her goodness, she was turned into an infant. She was a very weak girl, and it showed especially when ChibiUsa and Usagi went to her house for the first time, where she collapsed. They were featured very little in the SS series, but they were featured quite a bit in the Stars series, which was the final series of Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon. In this series, Hotaru was a baby, and in one episode, fighting for her life, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto fought in battle against Neherenia's evil henchwomen. At that time, baby Hotaru was covered in the plants, so she wouldn't be harmed by Neherenia's henchwomen. Uranus almost died that day, but Neptune saved her just before she almost fell off the building. That was when Pluto was held against her will and Hotaru was discovered by the enemy. Hoatru blasted her away, and then a new profound power was given to the Outer Senshi. And Hotaru was an infant no longer. The Three Lights were featured in this series. The end was dramatically ended. Galaxia, who was the main enemy in this series, killed Sailor Saturn and Pluto. And Uranus and Neptune were killed in a dramatic and emotional way, one in which would touch your very heart. They were revived by Usagi, and in the end, the Inners and Outers went their own seperate ways. Why do I like the Outer Senshi? I like them because they are simply unique and elegant. They are the more quiet, mature, and powerful than the inner senshi. The inner senshi seem to be more like teenagers (immature ones), who care more about their personal lives, shopping, boyfriends, and hanging out, while the outer senshi are more devoted to their mission: To keep Earth safe from the forces of evil. Sailor Pluto is doing a much better job at being the outer senshi's mentor, than Sailor Moon, being a leader of the whole group. The outer senshi know how to fight and how to work as a team. Together, they show grace and style. They are also diverse in personality, not like the inner senshi who seem to have common interests: boyfriends and klutz attacks. Sailor Neptune is of course, the most elegant senshi and Sailor Uranus is definitely one of the most interesting senshi. Sailor Saturn is the cutest outer senshi and Sailor Pluto is the most experienced senshi. Together, they work as a team, and never back away from their mission.
