Dear AIDS/HIV professional,

Greetings from Sweden!

As a health care professional I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of our new inexpensive method for viral load monitoring of HIV patients. With the method viral loads can easily be determined for patients and its development during treatment can be followed without having to spend a lot of money.

Our kit is based on the measurement of virion associated RT activity in patient plasma (no ultracentifugation needed).
The method has excellent correlation with PCR (R2 of more than 0.85, Amplicor, subtype B viruses) and a sensitivity of 3000 copies/ml.
In addition, it has the bonus that RT obtained from the patient plasma can also be tested for sensitivity/resistance towards NNRTIs and some NRTIs.
The kit is currently being used in Sweden, France, South Africa and Uganda. It will soon be introduced to Ethiopia, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, the US and Australia. The price tag is competitive, about 4 - 5 times less than conventional PCR based methods (approx. 15 - 20 USD per sample).

The kit is very robust, requiring only standard lab equipment (such as an ELISA plate reader).

If you are interested in Cavidi's RT Viral Load kit we would be very interested to discuss further with you.
More info regarding our new kit can be obtained at www.cavidi.com.
