Red and Blue Versions
All the information you want to know about red and blue!

Differences between the games:

The major differences in the Red and Blue versions are the Pokémon Apperences. The following listing of Pokémon can only be captured by their game pak colour.
Blue Red
Bellsprout Arbok
Magmar Arcanine
Meowth Electabuzz
Ninetales Ekans
Persian Gloom
Pinsir Growlithe
Sandshrew Mankey
Sandslash Oddish
Victreebell Primeape
Vulpix Scyther

It doesn't really matter which game pak you choose, but just remember that both paks have Pokémon that appear in different places or not there at all. So you must trade from other players, or if you like, you could use the gameshark. Whatever you choose to use. There are many ways to get Pokémon, being captured or traded...

1. Some pokémon can only be aquired though trade of your Pokémon. It will evolve right after
2. Someone in the game might give it to you
3. Trade with another player in the game. They give you a rare Pokémon for a common Pokémon
4. Trade with other friends if they have a Pokémon you'd like
5. Capture in the wild

And I'm sure there's lots more other ways....

In both versions, it starts up almost the same. The title screen might be a wee bit difference. If you had the red version, the title screen would say RED VERSION, obviously, and Charmander while the blue version would have BLUE VERSION and squirtle. The other parts are fairly the same, I don't notice much difference in them.
Another difference is when the two pokémon battle in the intro thing. For red version, nidorino is battling a gengar while the blue version is jigglypuff and gengar. What's up with Gengar?

Starting from the beginning...:

After you have chosen your name, rivals name, etc. You arrive in your room playing Super NES, how cute! If you wanted, you could look around Pallet at first. But if you want to skip all that and get to the Pokémon, you run into the fields. Professor Oak calls you back, you follow him back into the Pokémon lab. Your rival would be there, whichever name you chose for him will be his name for the rest of the game. After you choose a Pokémon you want (Which are Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle), he will choose something effective to your Pokémon. (E.G. You choose Charmander, he chooses Squirtle) Your first battle is with your rival. It doesn't matter if you win or lose just this battle, but it's better to win this one because you get cash on the way. After the battle, you might want to do that little task (play the game to know) for professor oak to get your pokédex. After you would be able to capture pokémon in the grassy fields, but remember to have some Pokéballs too. Later on, you would battle more gym leaders and trainers until you get all eight badges. After you do, you would be able to get into the Pokémon League! Battle a few more people and finally you would have to battle your rival once again. This won't be the only time you will have to battle him. He will appear all throughout the game. So if you haven't had enough fun kickin' his .... you'll have more chances later on!
