Silent Lies

Secrets kept, with eyes averted

Furtive calls, whispered promises

Silent lies, Silent betrayal

Still waters run deep, maelstrom forming

Who am I now, to you?

Are the silent lies less then the spoken lies?

Is unsubstantiated betrayal not still betrayal?

The truth when known will set you free,

The truth is the knife of reality, cutting to the bone.

The path ahead is now unknown,

Obscured from my view,

Laden with your past indiscretions.

Can I follow that path?

That answer is not yet forthcoming.

Can I forgive?

Can the trust be restored?

I know not.

Who are you now, to me?
