Who am I and why should you care?

I'm originally from Phoenix, Arizona, but when I was twelve my parents decided to relocate to sunny southern California. We moved a lot and I was always the new kid who didn't fit in. During my senior year I found my niche in life. I was a "Star Trek" fan looking for others like me and I found them: Demi, Dee, and Chey. We were an inseparable foursome. In 1973, I found my first SF convention, FilmCon I. I met Peggy there and she wrote an old pen pal, Jean, about me and the next thing I knew S.T.A.R.-San Diego had found me (and sometimes I think they claimed my soul). That "Star Trek," now SF, club became my home and my family. They took care of me for a long time. STAR has now faded, but I still call many of the people I met there family. Times change and we all move on.

What I like

I'm a long time science fiction fan and TVaholic. I've been involved in SF fandom for 29 years and love it. I was for a long time president of S.T.A.R.-San Diego, the San Diego Science Fiction Society. I am the chair for Con-Dor, an annual SF convention held in San Diego. Both organizations have links listed below.

When I'm not running fan events, I'm active with my hands. I'm an amateur costumer (SF, fantasy, and historical). I do glass etching, counted cross-stitch, crochet, jewelry making, ceramics and just about anything else that catches my eye. I occasionally exhibit in SF convention art shows. I've shown my costumes at conventions around the world. (I got to attend a convention in England.)

I collect "Star Trek" memorabilia of all kinds. I'm currently also collecting on "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," and a few others. I also like koalas and condors (the mascot for the convention I run). Okay, I like animals -- all animals. I love the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park.

S.T.A.R. - San Diego

Con-Dor 2001

The science fiction convention in San Diego. Started by Dianna Hildreth in 1992, we're an unusual mesh of literature, TV/movie, art and science. The convention is non-profit and the entire staff is made up of volunteers. Come join us for three days of the Con-Dor.

Fan Activities

My spare time is filled by the computer. Mostly I read email from about a dozen email lists, all for the various hunks on the "Hercules" and "Xena" TV shows. One of my pages here is dedicated to Ares, God of War. I also do a little writing and my inspiration is pure lust. I go to conventions when I can. I'm involved in live action roleplaying games. I collect celebrity autographs. And I'll tell anyone I meet everthing I know about my favorite subjects if they don't run away fast enough. I love to share knowledge.
