We began in 1997 as a part-time weekend business in the SCA, and the tremendous reaction from customers quickly transformed us into a full-time event-based venture in a matter of months. In December, 1998, the owner decided for mundane reasons to mo ve 'up north' to be with her family, and the climate and event schedule in that area of the country would not allow the business to be run at the volume or with the frequency previously enjoyed. Since the website had already been up and functional for over a year, we decided to remain open as a part-time mail order business.
Throughout the past year, however, the restrictions of running as a as a part-time business based out of the home, instead a full time business run from the office, have gradually reduced our level of customer service, increased the number and length of backorders, and generally made it impossible to carry out business at the high level to which we had become accustomed.
Therefore, effective immediately, The Polish Peasant will no longer engag e in web-based mail order sales. Items remaining in stock will most likely be auctioned o ff on an esite such as ebay or yahoo auctions, but that won't happen for a while yet - there are quite a few outstanding orders to be taken care of first.
If you do have an outstanding order with us, please don't panic! All outsta nding orders will be either shipped, if possible; refunded, if necessary; or some combination of the two.
