Characters: Two Clowns

Clown 1:(Center stage, talking to audience)
" Hi. I learned a new nursery rhyme and I've been practicing and practicing.
Do you want to hear it? (wait for response) "Mary had a little lamb, she did; she REALLY did!
It's fleece was white as snow. And everywhere that Mary went, the lamb was sure to go!"
(Clown 1 is really proud of herself!)

Clown 2: (Walks in with watering can behind back) "Pockets, that was really good,
but you know, that's the old fashion version. There's a new 2000 version out now. Do you want to learn it?"

Clown 1: (reluctantly says)" O.K."

Clown 2: (Watering can behind, uses other hand to gesture)
"Mary went for a walk one day, down the shady lane. When all of a sudden (pause)
All of a sudden, down came the rain. Now you try it.

Clown 1: OK. Mary went for a walk one day. down the shady lane.
when all of a sudden, (pause), all of a sudden. She had a great big pain!
(While clown 1 is reciting, clown 2 is walking behind clown 1 showing audience he will pour water on clown 1.)

Clown 2: (Hurry and puts watering can behind back.)
"No, No, Tha's not quite right. Let me repeat it for you.
"Mary went for a walk one day, down the shady lane. When all of a sudden (pause)
All of a sudden, down came the rain. You got that?" (a little sternly)

Clown 1: "Mary went for a walk one day, down the shady lane. When all of a sudden (pause)
All of a sudden, She saw a great big Plane (Points to sky)
(Clown 2 repeats trying to pour water.)

Clown 2: "No!, No!, No!, I'll repeat it again. Now pay attention!
"Mary went for a walk one day, down the shady lane. When all of a sudden (pause)
All of a sudden, down came the rain. Get it right this time!

Clown 1: "Mary went for a walk one day, down the shady lane. When all of a sudden (pause)
All of a sudden, She saw a Choo Choo Train. Whoo Whoo!" (chugs around but doesn't see watering can)

Clown 2: (very disgusted, sits watering can, steps forward) I'll repeat this one last time!
"Mary went for a walk one day, down the shady lane. When all of a sudden (pause)
All of a sudden, down came the rain.

Clown 1: (Points at, and picks up watering can and shows to audience, points at clown 2.
As clown 2 says "Rain" clown 1 pours water on clown 2's head and steps back.)
Clown 2 (straightens up.)
Clown 1:"Ha, Ha!, Ha! I've heard that one before!" (Chase off.)
