New York City ~ March 27-28, 1999

Ah... The chance to see Robert Duncan McNeill and Roxann Dawson on stage together proved to be irresistible, so the last weekend in March I packed up and flew from Colorado to New York City to attend the Creation con in Manhattan.  I arrived in NYC late Friday night and was met by my friend Niomi and her friend Jean.  We got up Saturday morning and did a bit of sightseeing, since it was my first trip ever to New York.  I got some lovely shots of the city, including the one above from the 86th floor observatory of the Empire State building.  I fell absolutely in love with the city, and am trying to figure out when I can return and spend a bit more time.

The Convention was held at the Roosevelt hotel in Manhattan, located at 45th and Madison.
The hotel was beautiful on the inside.  I was just dazzled by the decor.  It was a much classier hotel than I am accustomed to for a convention, although I have to say that I almost felt sorry for the couple that was holding their wedding there the same Saturday as the convention.
On Saturday, we got the chance to see Mary Kay Adams who plays Grilka on DS9 speak.  She was wonderful, funny and entertaining.  I had laughed at her character when she was on the show, but I have to admit, she is much more engaging in person.  After seeing her on stage, I took the time to go to her table and have her to autograph a picture for me.  She is as personable as she is beautiful.
After Mary Kay Adams, Creation held their obligatory auction (which ran over the scheduled time- big surprise) but then we finally got to see Saturday's main guest, Garrett Wang.
