Court Rules On Prayer Policy
By Laura Diamond (Times-Union staff writer) In a 10-2 vote, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the School Board policy of allowing graduation messages, which may include prayer, at commencement does not violate the separation of church and state. An attorney for the families that sued the school system said they will continue to challenge the policy. The next legal step for the families would be an appeal before the U.S. Supreme Court.
