Back in September, Doug and
I moved to a little place in Maine. In that same month, we purchased
a great little flock of sheep
and went to the Common Ground Fair to get our first two pair of chickens.
We don't really have a farm
quite yet, just chickens, sheep and our kitties. But, we would like
to be able to afford one in the near future. We're wanting to form
an intentional community with some other folks to make it more affordable
and to create instant community.
Here are more pictures of
our cute chickies.
These are 2 of our fellas. Charlie (left)
is a golden-laced cochin and Wiley (right) is a partridge wyandotte.
Here is Priscilla, my barred rock hen.
All of our chickens are bantams except for the Americauna couple.
Louie
and Ginger are our standard Americaunas. They both have the full
tail, beards under their chins and greenish legs. Ginger is supposed
to lay tinted eggs, a dominant trait, but she's still young, so no eggs...
yet.
Here's
a bunch of them. Priscilla and Kernel Sanders (our barred rock rooster)
are in the back. Fanny (the golden-laced cochin hen) is in the feed
pan. Ginger is between Wiley and Charlie with Louie in the front.
(Note: Hennie Penny, our partridge wyandotte hen, is sitting on a nest
in the chicken house incubating her egg. At the time of this photo,
Eleanor and Teddi had not yet come to live with us. They are black
wyandotte bantams.)
Hope you enjoyed meeting our chickies, please
take a look at our cute sheepies
and kitties.
