Meet Ranma Satome, 16 yr. old martial artist. Our well-built hero/heroine (sort of). The martial art of kempo is his life. Never turns down a challenge (martial arts rhythmic gymnastics, martial arts skating, martial arts tea ceremony, martial arts dinner, martial arts cheerleading... if it has "martial arts" in the name, he'll win, eventually). Training with his father at the mysterious Jusenkyou training ground in China, he was thrown into a spring called Nyanniichuan, where a young girl drowned 1500 years ago. He emerged as a young girl, according with the spring's curse. When splashed with hot water, he changes back to a boy, but when splashed with cold to room temperature water, he turns into a girl again.
Then there's Genma Satome, Ranma's insensitive father. Long ago he arranged with his closest friend, Tendou Soun, that their children would marry.
While training Ranma at the remote Chinese training ground Jusenkyou, Ranma kicked him into Shonmaoniichuan where a panda drowned 2000 years ago. Genma emerged as a panda, and as the guide explained the spring's curse, still went on to whack Ranma into Nyanniichuan.
Unlike Ranma, he doesn't have much trouble with his curse, and becomes quite accustomed to living as a panda (comporting himself with human dignity even as he sips tea and plays shogi with Souun). Since he can't speak as a panda, he uses wooden signs
Tendou Akane, the youngest daughter of the Tendou family, age 16, like Ranma. She is a hot-tempered boy-hating martial artist who's admired by many boys at school. Her cooking kills, she swims like a rock, her grace and feminine qualities have yet to be seen, and her strength is nearly unmatched! But for some mysterious reason we are all drawn to her...
Akane is jealous of Ranma's many girlfriends, but hotly denies her interest in Ranma. Ranma denies his attraction to Akane just as vehemently. But despite their constant bickering and denials, Akane and Ranma do grow to like each other, though they cannot admit it.
Though her poisonous cooking is the bane of the dojo, Akane will never accept defeat. Her attempts to cook often end in a contest to see who will have to try it. Being Akane's fiancee, Ranma is usually the unwilling victim.
TatewakiKuno is Furinkan High's the undefeated captain of their Kendo club. The rising new star of the highschool fencing world. He is also known as The Blue Thunder or as Nabiki said Shooting star. Kuno is 17 years old and is constantly fighting for Akane. Kuno is also in love with Ranma Chan or Pigged tailed girl which confuses Kuno since he doesn't know which he loves more. We often see him puzzeling over whom he wants more and when he desides for that time, he usually gets his butt kicked when he goes after Ranma Chan.
